Hi parents, after watching Wicked with my daughter (8), she’s super into musical theatre. Started checking out some performing arts schools that do theatre and dance because she also loves ballet and hip hop. At first, I thought I found a good one, trial class went well and she liked it. But then I talked to some parents and heard some things that made me worry a bit. Apparently, sometimes teachers get switched last minute and have to teach styles they don’t really know? Sounds like no proper backup plan, they just get anyone to cover even if not trained. It makes me wonder if they really care about the kids learning or just trying to fill slots. As a parent paying good money, I want the best for my girl. So just sharing in case other mums are looking too. The place is Emerge Arts and Media Academy. The kids seem to enjoy the classes but please check properly before signing up.

I have obtained Diploma in Music and Bachelor in Music (Hons) under NAFA-RCM, and also holds Grade 8 (Distinction) certificates for Piano and Music Theory. I teach for Graded exam, and also for leisure playing with diverse students’ age group; ranging from 3 to 70 years old, from beginner to Grade 8. @bertrand-011930xl hello! There’s a dance studio called ‘Glissade’ at Bukit Merah central. It is very accessible as it is near the bus interchange, and also very affordable, and its prices are below market rate. The teacher is very amicable and approachable. This studio would be good especially if you are just starting out at ballet, but it has many students taking the advanced classes too. Even though the FB page may be quite old the studio is very well maintained. The teacher is also very experienced. Hope this helps?
