Yes, my dd mentioned doing maths test yesterday (number bonds and also spelling numbers in words); but not sure if the teacher will return the tests to us. may be just practise - i tot the marks to be included will only be in term 3 and 4 - according to the parents link note.

not sure abt chinese show and tell. my dd said her teacher told the class to prepare 2 topics just in case if the 1st topic didn’t score too well; the pupil can do another one. but i’m not sure if it’s a gd idea to let my dd memorize 2 topics - she may get mixed up. dunno how many sentences is enough. if it is just practise, no need to be so "tedious" - must prepare 2 topics!

my dd’s going to library today and insisted that her teacher told them to borrow 6 books; and she’s so mad that i’ve already used her library card to borrow 2 books. I even need to write a note to the teacher to explain the situation (ie. she can only borrow another 4 bks) inorder to "pacify" her. dunno if she’s smart enough to borrow the small/ thin books.

From the teacher: The tests are "readiness" tests to identify weak students for early intervention.

BlurBee, the teacher’s note was dated 28/1 and it’s from her chinese teacher; not sure if every class has different ways of testing the show and tell. dd is in P1/6. the note also stated min 5 sentences.

need to coach my dd to memorise the first topic; she’s a bit lazy and grumbled that her brain is going to "explode" ! still have to "force" her to memorise another topic during cny so that she can deliver her 2nd show + tell after cny. dunno if they are just practices or actual marks are awarded ??? hopefully she can remember her "speech" in front of the class; stress…

talked to a few of her classmates; some seemed quite smart and dd said their worksheets always got full marks; wow ! guess some kindergartens taught a lot of things and they’re well prepared. dd also complained that her artwork (done by herself) got B- and her friend’s artwork got A+ although he admited to the teacher that his mum helped him.

remembered reading from the note (listing the events for the year) given out in the 1st week that markes are calculated only from Term 3 onwards. my friend who is a teacher told me that it is moe rule that marks cld only be cal from term 3, and tests for the 1st 2 terms are for practice…

                        Received a few notes yesterday.

                        1) Show & tell session: need to talk all 3 topics, 1 topic per week.
                        2) 17 Feb will be CNY celebration. School starts from 10am-12noon. School will resume on 18 Feb.

1 qn on CNY celebrate: any more school after 12noon? :?
