my boy used to b w/Carpe Diem Punggol 21. at first was impressed by the cmmitment and TLC over at the ctr. but things started to change when one of the teacher quit and then follow by the ctr mgr. both were v good and experience ladies, doh young.

teachers turn over just keep ‘shooting up’. after 1yr+, my boy suddenly dun wan to go to sch one day, no matter how hard i tried - talking to the new ctr mgr, teachers in-charge and my boy still doesn’t helps.

so boh bian, withdraw him from there and now he’s a happy boy! he is with LSH at ocbc ctr.

So things do take a turn ever if the comments or initial experience is good…

I am wondering why there are so few comments on this thread, considering they have many centers. Went to their website and is pretty impressed. They look good on the outside so I wonder with so few comments if they’re good on the inside too?

My son is in Carpe Diem starlets 120. Frankly I don’t see any MI kinda teaching as written in the website. Since the change of management (used to be Golden-Kids, the school was sold to Carpe Diem in 2007), the previous batch teachers had been leaving one after another and the center turnaround rate was very high. The new teachers are mostly chinese nationals teaching Chinese and Muslim teachers for English. For K1 and K2 there is weekly ‘ting xie’. My son adapted to the change quite well and his Chinese improved a lot for the past 1 year. He is very enthusiastic to learn new words. Regular communication with the teachers is very important too if you wanna know about your kid’s progress in the school.

My kid is in JJK. So far, this is the better childcare which is near to my place. We decided to send our kid to JJK after doing some shortlisting of the childcare centres and visiting them. JJK price is reasonable, and the place is big (comprises of two semi-D premises) which allows my kid to run around. Other than the $445 (after subsidy) fee, parents may enrolled their kids for optional extra cost enrichment classes held in the afternoons - such as "kindermusik", "speech-&-drama", "arts-&-craft" etc. So the monthly expenses incurred maybe substantially higher.

The school does not teach "phonics" specifically; but it teaches the pupils on how to read using books from the Readers series of "Edverture Resources". I had asked around, and realised that parents are actually sending their kids for phonics classes - I enroled my kid for "Zoophonics" - to strengthen kids’ command on "phonetics sounds" and blending etc. I have the impression that just relying on CD (JJK) cirriculum to teach the kids good phonics is limited. I have feedback to CD (JJK) on providing optional "phonics" enrichment course as part of the afternoon cirriculum, but so far they had not took up the suggestion.

Hi... I was there in Jln Jurong Kechil. I like the place however, I notice that the ventilation in the class room is very stuffy... also, I think there is too many childrens. Hv u check it out?

I been to Watten Estate-Carpe Diem. Centre not bad. But somehow those teachers dun seem impressive to me.

In the end, I actually enrol my kids to Barker Road Methodist Church Kindergarten. So far, my kids enjoy going to school everyday.

When I visited the CD/JJK, they employed many china nationality and my hb notices that these teacher looks very tired and restless. For that matter of fact, we decided to register my K1 daughter and 2 years son to a nearby CC called Childrenworld Montesori. It is a small scale but I feel very comfortable.
