Preparing kids for P5 in 2011
-
Hi Mummies,
My son’s school ordered this set of Science notes-cum-test questions for the students…comes in 2 booklets - Cycles and Systems. I think I saw this at Popular before, one of the staff there told me many schools get it for their students/ask their students to get it.
It’s published by ACE and written by a lady author. -
Hi Janet_lee88
Can show us a picture of the science book which you have mentioned in yr post?

@Janet, thanks for sharing. I like the concept maps.
Re: English Assessments, I like ‘Sucess with Grammar’ by Global Publishers, the answers have bold keywords so the grammar rule governing the answer is clearer. S&T, I am trying out the one by Rosalind Fergusson as I like the English books she wrote.
How’s everyone coping ? With CCA and supplementary lessons in full swing and upcoming CA1, we are kept busy. Not much time for revision or assessment books. -

Yup, suppl lessons are in full swing...meaning there are 2 days lesser. Son has to learn his EL/CL spelling the day b4. Maths homework on average is 10 pages at least...thinking questions. Revision thru assessment books still need to be done to prepare for CA1@Janet, thanks for sharing. I like the concept maps.

How else to revise ? But time is tight, and still have to give him sometime to breathe.

Really poor thing seeing my DD lacking sleep every day due to tons of H/W given by school. After CCA and supplementary classes, practically she comes home after 5pm or later, three to four times per week. Off to shower and dinner, follow by yet-to-complete H/W for tomorrow till late at night. I can see Totally a GREAT jump from P4 to P5 . Do most parents face the same stress like me and DD?? Immune system not getting any stronger already.

I did in January as DD reaches home at 5 pm daily.
What helped was the FT got the class to write about their daily schedules in their journals. Think based on that, weekday homework has been reduced, so now possible to finish in less than an hour.
But weekends are still too much, I feel. -

The homework is much tougher and requires more in-depth thinking.
Maths is toughest. I can FEEL that BIG jump from P4 to P5 now...and it's only Feb
Son just reminded me CA1 is 2 weeks away.
