just want to find out for a fren. My fren is registering for phrase 2b at tao nan and she like me waiting for huay kuan recommendation letters and she has done volunteers for hours. She was looking at the phrase 1 statistic and feels chance not high leh. She is thinking of registrating phrase 2A2 for her old school which is a good school but far from her house.when the registration for 2A2 ends, she will look at the vacancies after 2A2 and also see if she get the recommendation letter, then she will drop the school register at phrase 2A2. if not she will hold on to the old school and journey takes about half an hour or more.
Her concern now is will huay kuan check out she has registered for 2A2 and thus not give her the recommendation letter?Anyone knows -
Dear parents,
Is there any criteria for methodist to be qualify in any of the affliated schools? There have been talks about clan and association. Must you be in a particular church to be qualify to the affliated schools? Thank you. -
hi larkspur,
I donβt think they have time/manpower - also MOE is not obliged to them to release such information. My belief is that SHHK will not bother to find out if parents are registering in prior phases but issue the letters based on the merit of the application.
In my time, I did PV at another school and requested for the rec letter. I got the letter, but ended up did not use it. -

For religion, you need to check with the school. Some schools require you to produce the baptism cert of the child or parent to qualify under 2B. I do not think the choice of churches is important, only proof of the religionDear parents,

I checked the active leader thread and it seems all those that are GRL got their letters. How come they have no quota but clan has

govnt what.
and they can choose any schools within their area, unlike clan & PV. -

I'm a Methodist too. I don't know if it differs between methodist churches, but for mine, a parent has got to be a church member (i.e. baptized, confirmed in that particular church). Every year the church will inform the congregation that members whose children are due for P1 registration can get a letter from the Pastor (can't remember what the letter says but it allows you to apply via phase 2b). Dunno if there are additional internal criteria. My pastor knows us well, and we've been serving there many years, so no problem getting a letter.Dear parents,

You should speak to your church pastor about it. -

For the Methodist schools, you don't need to produce baptism cert. You need the letter from the pastor of a Methodist church confirming that you, or your spouse is a member of the church (your child need not be baptized).
