        Jennifer:
The bookshop has a good variety of various sizes now. Better buy asap as my experience was the small sizes for P1 are limited stock.

Do not go during the recess periods.
I have received the orientation letter + booklist + forms etc.

In that case, I better go & buy the uniforms now. What's their recess periods?

Last year when #2 was in P1, there were 3 PE days.

This year, although the sch time table stated 2 PE days, #2's teacher gives 4 PE days.

I think a safe bet would be 3 sets of PE (in case the child enrols for CCA) and 2 sets of uniform.

I know of someone who bou 5 sets each becos the mum does laundry once a week.

                Morning recess:
                P3 & P4 9.30am to 10am
                P5 & P6 10.30am to 11am

                Afternoon recess:
                P1 3pm to 3.30pm
                P2 3.30pm to 4pm

                Hours of the bookshop:
                Mon/Tue/Thur/Fri 9 am to 4pm
                Wed 9am to 3pm
                Lunch break 1pm to 2pm

The above is according to the 2009 student handbook. Safe bet is to call the bookshop to confirm if these timings are still accurate.

When I was in sch yesterday, the bookshop is preparing for the sale of books in the Science room (1st classroom on the right hand side of the lift). There were many boxes in the room.

If anyone of you is going to buy the uniforms, might as well buy some of the exercise books and sch files too. Btw the uniform is sold in the bookshop located towards the end of the right hand side corridor. Not the Science room.

How is Pei Hwa Maths standard? Will the teacher provide extra lessons for weaker students?

                    Hi, mummyof2.

There are remedial lessons (conducted in the morning) for the weaker pupils. I am not sure when these lessons start or how are the weaker pupils being identified.

I think an avg pupil would be able to cope with Maths. JMHO

Hi, any parent has sent their child to the PHP Student Care Centre?

Is it any useful for your child, in terms of supervising child on getting work done? Is there a selection criteria? No of places?

My child will be going to P1 next year - still no letter from school on Orientation on 20 Nov.

Any advise will be appreciated! Thanks!
my child goes there. they do supervise homework. if any question, child can ask them too. not sure of the selection criteria but i suspect they give priority to child with working parents. the places are limited to 25.

if you are a christian, it is a good place for your child to learn more about God as they have bible story everyday.

it is very convenient for P1 children because you don't have to worry about their safety since it is within the school. they also make sure your kid knows how to buy lunch in the canteen, and brings the kid to the assembly hall before school starts.

the only downside for me is that the centre is closed whenever the school is closed (except for school hols during which they remain open). This means you have to be prepared to take leave during those closed days.

                      hope this helps.
