Typically, the weaker topics of the math students for A level.

The integration question was also particularly tough because it was not an applicative question that allowed them to use a calculator. They had to show the step-by-step working and hence the students got stumped by it.

It is good that the paper exposed their weak areas rather than to lull everyone into complacency. It is tough to learn it the hard way, but what doesn’t kill you only makes you stronger.”

“ Being an ex HCI teacher , I understand that the Maths dept sets very high standards. Be fair to the HCI college Maths Dept , 8 in 10 score A in H2 Math for the past five years A levels!

I also told my son to be mentally prepared for “difficult “ Math papers and don’t expect the Sec 4 high school Type where most students will get A1-2!
My boy said last year’s paper was easy but I said it was not set by the same team.

Thanks Dewayne Wan for your analysis of the maths paper in terms of topical coverage .

Admittedly, our students these days may study very hard but may not be comprehensive and consistent in studying for examinations.
A Good wake up call for such students including my boy . I asked him what could u have done better in retrospect.

Next year , statistics topics like permutation and combination can be even more challenging . Consistency is key !

All the best to their Physics and Biology paper for those who offer these subjects today !”
