Yes / no / maybe.

Firstly, before you PG, you need to know about the charges. Is that the only possible charge that the AGC can bring against you? Is there an alternative, lesser charge? Is that even a correct charge? Some times, it's pretty clear cut; other times, not so. Sometimes, it makes sense to PG to a lesser charge, but claim trial if it's going to be a higher charge.

Even if you decide to PG, how certain are you that the AGC / DPP sentencing guideline that they suggest to the judge is fair? Is the framework they proposed even valid? If you think they are proposing something excessive, what alternatives can you put forward and on what basis? If you read enough https://www.judiciary.gov.sg/judgments/judgments-case-summaries, you will know that DPP gets buttered by the judge just as much as the defence lawyers. The judge may agree with the DPP on some sentencing position and will side with the defence on others. On rare occasions, the judge may even disagrees with both parties!

Finally, you can submit a mitigation plea before sentencing after PG. Do you know how to prepare it? Do you know what are the mitigating factors that are relevant to your case?

On the topic of school starting time, sometimes the main issues is not whether can wake up early or not.

Even I can wake up at 04:00 am or 04:30 am, the first schedule SBS bus is only start at 05:30am, so many students around my area have to squeeze into the first feeder bus to MRT otherwise they will be late for school. Unfortunately if the SBS bus is already full and the bus driver refuses to open the bus door, then those students have to run to the nearest MRT. The situation become worse during rainy days.

No matter what time you set, people get used to it and will start complaining. I've lived in places where school starts 9am, and parents and kids still complain about waking up \"early\". If they sleep earlier, they won't feel it as much. I'm not saying it's always easy, but you can get used to anything.
