Staying in NUS cost varies and depends if you stay during holidays and if meals are included. Including allowances and no bonuses, I think 250K all in all is likely. I am pretty amazed with the stay so far. How I wish I am young again and repeat my stay in a different school! So must fun and lots of self discipline.

Only thing to take note, a GAP yr may be good idea if you did not secure a place. Transferring from another course may result in you paying full fees for specific yrs.

So far from Meet and Greet, white coat to how they have trained the kids, it is very much like ah boys/girls to Man/Ladies.

Scholarship has income ceiling and there is a bursary where the school champions to get donations for these kids.

So after registration, we were offered nuts and bottles of water (self-service), and were seated in a lecture hall where speakers briefly spoke abt why prospective offered students should choose NUS YLL, and the factors one should consider when thinking about whether one is suited to take the course, and one student shared a glimpse of student life. Then there was a simulation exercise on stage. After which parents were dismissed whilst the kids went on a school tour for about 2 hrs.

I initially thought it was a open house style where you could go any time within the mentioned time frame but it was not. I am hoping to create a support group for those who have been rejected from medical schools and are feeling not so great.

Just for context, I am a NUS Y1 (going Y2) life science student who have been rejected from medical school twice, so I understand how some of you are feeling and this is why I am creating a telegram group chat for those who are in the same boat. I understand how lost and helpless some of you may feel after being rejected from medical school and I hope that the group will be a safe place for you to vent + share your thoughts/questions. For those who are intending to apply again, we can help to keep each other accountable too! Speaking with people who are in the same boat as me really gave me hope and made me realise that I’m not alone so I hope that this group will also help you too!

Some background about me: I was from JC and my rp was 86.625. I applied for NTU and NUS ABAS the first year and did not get shortlisted by both schools. I then decided to matriculate into NUS life science. The subsequent year, I applied to transfer to NUS medicine again via ABAS. I got shortlisted but was rejected after that. Over the next few months, I will also share some of my personal experiences (such as what studying life science is like and what I think NUS look out for in your ABAS portfolio) in hope that it will help some of you. If there are any seniors who would also like to share your experience, do join the group too!

Here is the link to the group: https://t.me/dontlosehope23

SNGS2016

Reply to Application for NUS/NTU/DUKE-NUS Medicine 2023/2024 on Fri, 12 May 2023 08:29:48 GMT

bluebellas\" post_id=\"2107959\" time=\"1683554357\" user_id=\"32548:

Feels like a “restricted entry” open house. You still able to afford a cup of coffee, own a handphone and some money in your pocket except you are not considered rich.

Being poor probably is the driving force to motivate you to work hard. You are able to survive on almost nothing, with limited resources. Being poor requires a can-do attitude and a creative approach to problem-solving. A poor person would probably have the skills to survive longer than a pampered rich one. You have superior survival skills to overcome life obstacles.

If you have nothing, you might find the stamina to change your financial situation for the better. Many millionaires are self-made, and their history of poverty might be what gave them the discipline, tenacity, frugality, resourcefulness, and work ethic they needed to succeed. So if you have the will you have the way to change from being poor to being rich.

Desmond Tang

Reply to Application for NUS/NTU/DUKE-NUS Medicine 2023/2024 on Mon, 08 May 2023 09:47:47 GMT

Good to be poor?
