Otherwise, if not been short listed, then you won't hear from the school.

Example
========

There are many students who love to apply for Transfer, into GEP (Gifted Education Programme) primary schools, to join their Mainstream. Every year, these nine GEP schools in Singapore will receive a tall stack of mountain highly piled up \"Transfer Application Request forms\", for all level,
from ( end of P2 to end of P4 ). No school will allow Transfer to take place at P5, because is too close, to PSLE. But, when these students are not short listed, they won't hear from the school at all. Some of them have applied year after year, but also never hear from the school.

As such,
when u apply for Transfer,
DO apply
for more than one school, just in case there is heavy competition faced. He is offered a school which is inconvenient to travel to and fro home. There is a pri school right behind my blk which i believe, based on all the info online I gathered, is not a popular school. This school seems like one of the last few choices in this area. Like if we look at P1 balloting history, they still have vacancies in Phase 2CS so i was quite confident he would get a space in this school. My son will be in P2 next year btw. Anyone knows if i can appeal to MOE or seek help from MP maybe?

Hi, from MOE website:

“3. Receive outcome and report to school

You will receive the outcome of your child's application through SMS sent to the local mobile number you have provided during your application. You may also log on to the online system using your Singpass.

Microsoft Edge is recommended for optimal use of this online system.

If you choose to accept the school offered, follow these steps to complete the transfer process:
Report to the current school to initiate the process.
Report to the new school.

This process must be completed within the reporting period. If you miss the reporting deadline, or decide not to accept the school offered, your child will remain in their current school.”

There is no official appeal process. What I would do is:
- simply let the deadline pass without action. Child will then officially stay in his old school
- since the desired school seems to have vacancies, just apply directly to the desired school (walk-in to the general office once Term 1 starts / call them to check transfer application procedure / use online transfer or query form if available).
- MP route if u think it’s faster

All the best!

zac's mum

Reply to All about Transferring to Other Primary Schools on Thu, 08 Dec 2022 03:08:22 GMT

Hi, i applied for a school transfer for my son via MOE STEPS online and have received an sms today.
