And the amazing thing is that the amt mentioned excludes properties. :shock: I quote from the article: An annual study by Boston Consulting Group (BCG) showed that Singapore had the highest concentration of millionaires, as in 2008. A total of 11.4 per cent of households here own more than US$1 million (S$1.4 million) - defined as those with investable assets of over US$1 million, exclusive of property and items like art.

No wonder I find that things here are getting expensive. Or maybe I'm earning too little. This is quite a reality check for me. ๐Ÿ˜ž

Everyone have their own formula for wealth creation, that cannot be 100% emulate by others. Every path or choices had their own pains and gains.

No. He has no job loss etc...His job is rather stable though not high flying. His salary increases moderately over the years and reached 5k only recently. However, he is rather thrifty and never spend much on luxurious items like cars etc....Probably half of his salary was spend on his family expenses...What do you think is his investment return?

If you want to be a millionaire, start with a millionare mindsetโ€ฆand if you cannot change yourself, at least start with your children.

Actually, the pay for lawyers had been dropping. During my parents' generation, an average lawyer can easily make a million a year. These days, most are getting less than half that.

$20k is not all that much these days. For bankers, the more important component in the compensation package is bonus, not basic pay.

Agree with you dolphinsiah. DW & I also don't plan to depend on ds for our old age. We understand that it's terribly difficult for one person to support 2 old folks in the current climate. We'll take any financial support given (if there is) as a bonus.

Not like your investment in the Bank....

I am now in this Cycle ...so I do not treat my children like investment...

I just Groom them well .....
