From what I heard they are very good at breaking down supposedly difficult concepts for beginners to absorb and understand. Personally, this is the biggest criteria when it comes to selecting an art school, as I dont want to stay too long in the basics.

My ex husband sent my child to Muz Art and some home based art classes before in Marine Parade and Sengkang. To encourage the child they will help her to complete the artwork. Unless u specifically ask the teacher not to, my friend who has a child at Westgate Artary told me that they have a learning preference request where u can inform them during enrolment and they will practice according to parent’s request. So her son come back the artwork like ..... but is truly theirs! 😂 I’ve been also searching for a new art environment as well but Artary’s pricing is a little premium.....

Charmaine1993

Reply to Recommendation for children art course on Fri, 29 Nov 2019 16:45:05 GMT

Can try an art class or art camp with Abrakadoodle. This is a boutique school right in the heartland of Singapore at Owen Road. Classes are small and personal. She doesn't believe in too much structure and believes that art should be an individual expression through art. We have all sort of classes and adults can paint together with their children so it is great for bonding. To be honest, I have never put my kids in any other art class, so I have no comparison to others. But from my observation, people enjoy the classes because they are not too structured. Have a look at her website for more information at http://www.heartroomgallery.com. My mum's name is Mei. (e.g. painting w acrylic)

since it is skill based, then there is right and wrong in the skill ( think of it like maths, doing multiplication)

attending such classes makes you child a painter, doesnt make him/her an artist. they are different.

artist speaks thru their artform, painter just paints.

allowing creativity and imagination is allow children to speak thru their art, thus the outcome is very different from learning a skill.( think of a child offering alternative solution to multiplication, the final answer can be wrong, but the spirit to explore and experiment is encouraged)

so do take note of what you want and what the center offers before committing.

i have helped students prepare portfolio for SOTA VA and presenting works as painter or artist is very different. (fyi they are lookiing for artist not painter)
