<![CDATA[Primary One School Orientation]]>Hi All,

I am helping a colleague to post this topic to check with parents whose children have attended the Primay One School Orientation.

My colleague’s child has gone for the orientation last saturday. Both parent and child did not actually get much information form the orientation:-
1) There is no mention what is the school reporting time on the 1st day of school? The school is a single session school
2) What is the child expect to bring on the 1st day of school?
3) Are parents allow to enter the school premise on the 1st day of school?
4) Where is the assemble place?
5) Certain school does not allow child to use "trolley" schoolbag; there is no mention of this too.

She was so frustrated with all these adminstrative issues and was at a loss what to do. I can only share my view on what my gal’s school has given on the guidelines. Can any parents help?

Btw, my colleague’s child school is in the Western part of Singapore (Jurong).

do u noe if the date for the orientation has been changed?
its really ridiculous to do an orientation for P1 on 30th dec.. to me its too late & the kid will be eager to noe the school etc & we have plans for holiday too act but i jus dont understand y is the orientation soo late? e last day of December? soo ridiculous, have act write in to the school & MOE they are still checking, others have been thru orientation but this school is only doing on 30th dec??? haiz..
so anybody sharing the same thought as me?
wow orientation on 30th Dec. I thought my fren's son school orientation is the latest of all school cos her son school orientation on 29th Dec. Her son going to Pei chun primary 1 next year

quite a number of schools can order online, esp. those where the vendor is Pacific bookstore. They deliver right to your door step if you choose to order online, give you some promotion free gift(s) as well. Because during this period is already Nov /December period, season of goodwill.

when you buy shoes, also can ask if the school allow children to wear black shoes ? some schools allow, others don't.


wear black shoes good - no need to wash every week.

indeed! at least it won't look so dirty and messy if there is actually dirt on it! wish ds' school will allow black shoes!!!

Yumin primary school children wears black socks and black shoes. Maybe no need o wash so often. :imcool:

My DD is in a 3hrs kindy, so she goes for some on weekday & some on weekend.


Next year when she's in P1, there won't be so much time.

Just out of curiosity, what course does she attend?
My dd attends three per week, I am hectic ferrying her, not to forget my ds has two per week too.

it depends. the school's art curriculum is quite general. if your dd's art class is like NAFA kind or some specific kind like chinese brush painting, then it won't overlap.
