<p dir="auto">this batch of Sec 4 students (born in year 2007) was the last batch of students, who had sat for the GCE O level Economics subject, whose subject exam code 2286.</p>
<p dir="auto">After this last batch have sat, TKGS (Tanjong Katong Girls’ Secondary school) subsequently then removed / offering teaching  this O level Economics subject, from their school. That is, TKGS now (today) no longer offer O level Econs subject anymore, in Sec (3 &amp; 4), from year 2024, onwards.</p>
<p dir="auto">For those graduated Sec 4 students from the year 2023 O level batch -</p>
<p dir="auto">who have then proceeded onwards, forward into their Junior Colleges, to prepare for their next year (2025) A level, note that :-</p>
<p dir="auto">taken O level Econs  did provide only the very basic, core  fundamental foundation. However, it is barely enough !<br />
There is still a very huge, wide jump (gap) in subject content taught, between<br />
Economics (GCE O level vs.  GCE A level H2 Economics).</p>
<p dir="auto">As such,<br />
the feedback coming  from some of the current A-level JC Econs lecturers, teaching H2 Econs subject, in the Junior Colleges -</p>
<p dir="auto">after the year end October / November Moe school Term 4 JC (1) “promo” exam into the nextJC (2) level, the feedback from JC Econs lecturers, was that :-</p>
<p dir="auto">some students still did badly (poorly) in their H2 Econs subject, even though they had sat for GCE O level Econs subject (2286), before.</p>

Interest aside and I hate to make it all about scoring, but playing the averages I'd guess that many of these students (or any other students if put in this spot) would benefit more from a calculation perspective to have another shot at the R1 slot.  9 or 10 A1s is kind of meaningless; I can't do anything with more than 6 of them and having the right combination trumps the total in and of itself.<br /><br />The only caveat to this (brought up by others elsewhere) is two humanities make sense if both could be A1 - C6 (for example) with equal probability. For 2020, 100% of the students obtained distinctions, with over 90% scoring A1. For 2021, all students scored distinctions, except for 1 who scored B3.<br /><br />My DD is an existing Sec3 Econs student in TKGS and there are 2 classes taking Econs this year which is the highest intake compared to previous years.
