Weiqi is easier to learn the rules, like around 10 minutes vs Chess’ 20 min. But once you go deeper, chess is pretty much one dimensional: capture and check mate, whereas weiqi approach to winning the game can get intelligent. For me playing chess is more tiring than playing weiqi. Chess is more direct and “confrontational” (capturing the king is all that matter) whereas weiqi play is both “fight” and “diplomacy” (have to learn to give up some territory to opponent in order to win overall). Weiqi is akin to Taiji and chess to racket games.

As others have shared , Bishan CC houses both chess and weiqi academy and they conduct adult classes.
