Hi

Anyone has kids in N2 to K2 of Sparkletots Alexandra or Telok Blangah? Can please share your experiences? The school fees are quite affordable and am just wondering about the quality...

I'm looking for a full day CCC with a good kindergarten curriculum that prepares my kid for P1 in mainstream.

I stay in Paya Lebar and work in Buona Vista. So I thought of getting a place near my workplace so I can rush for the pick up in time at the end of the day.

Its difficult to respond because many of these childcare teachers are temps and they do not stay for more than 3 years. Whatever reviews you get, make sure you check the recency and make adjustments accordingly if the reviews are more than 5 years old.

You see, in Howard Gardner's multiple intelligence theory, a person has 9 different intelligences, of which each of us has a different percentage of each intelligence.

If you observe, which i totally agree, MFS is more on play approach. Which means students are learning through the bodily Kinesthetic way. What about the rest of the intelligences? Do you want your DS/DD to grow up with only one strong intelligence? The reason why we are only able to use 10% of our brain is because we are too focussed on 1 single intelligence.

Let me illustrate an example: if you are being praised for your ability to play soccer, you will most probably be playing soccer as a sport ONLY. Your child might most probably then spend most of his/her time playing soccer then. Then, in this case, we will classify your child as a strong kinesthetic learner. He/she will then not be able to learn in other ways except for that!

Hence, it is more important to develop the full brain in every single way so that your DS/DD will be able to tap on more areas of his/her brain in the future and learn through his other intelligence that are in his/her brain.

Sparkletots curriculum includes:

1) Creative Art - For development for Spatial Intelligence
2) Creative Language - For development for linguistic intelligence
3) Field trips - for development of naturalistic intelligence
4) Music and movement - musical intelligence
5) Violin lesson - Musical intelligence

chanced upon this when surveying for CCs for my child. Just have to inform all mummies that this is WRONG. Because he is a secondary school teacher that's why he doesn't understand that through play itself the child can learn all these intelligence. Secondary school and preschool is different, and preschool don't just depend on howard gardner theory. An essay would not be enough to explain

My son is currently 5years old, K1 at full day childcare in sparkletots Tampines st21 (any parents here?) After talking to my son’s teacher at parents meeting recently, I feel the progress is tooo slow for K1. Their goal for next half a year is learn until number 20!!! And as for phonics, still A-Z, not going into word blending yet! Isn’t it too slow???

The teacher said some Malay parents gave feedback said their child doesn’t know the simple letters, what for teach him/her difficult ones! ( I’m not a racist, this is what I’ve been told) I really not sure about the academic prepress at other preschool, any advice please? I’m so worried that my son will not be ready for P1 since next year he will be in K2 already.

Any parents staying this area? Is it too late to change school?

They are government funded childcare centre but they dont understand in this society there are getting more and more special needs children. My child has mild autism and as recommended from the KKH doctor, my child dont need to attend special school. He still need socializing therefore we enrol him to normal childcare and EIPIC school to help on his needs. He has been having problem in school from Nursery 1 to now Kindergarden 2. To my understanding when my child was in K1 that his class has 4 special needs child, class size is 22 children and only with 2 teachers. Highlight to PCF that the school should consider increasing the number of teacher due to the special needed children in the class. However what i got from the management is they are at the approved ratio from the government. 22 children to 2 teachers. I once again highlighted to the management that i understand the guideline but cant the management do some arrangement if there are special cases. The management replied was, we dont have extra money to pay off extra teacher for the school. What kind of government funded childcare or kindergarden is this? Very disappointed with PCF. Since PCF dont not rejected special needs child to enrol i believe they should have knowledge and train their staff to handle special needs child, unfortunately they are not. So parents who have special needs child do consider other centre.
