Its western dining. Dinner we went for fine dining course dinner and breakfast is buffet. Its worth the $$ paid 🙂

I have some questions to ask, and hopefully I can get some answers from here 🙂

- Are we able to bring food and drinks onboard? What I meant is, water for the kids, and perhaps some biscuits, bread and cup noodles for supper?

- I suppose we can choose not to book the shore excursion from RC (it's way overpriced), if we choose to disembark on our own, is it easy and convenient to get to Penang's Georgetown and Patong beach and shopping from the jetty? I read somewhere that tender boat is needed to travel from main ship to Patong jetty. Is this payable then?

- Is North Star complimentary? I read from another article saying it's chargeable now

- Bumper car in Sea Plex - is this chargeable or it's free too? My husband said the arcade credits cannot be used for bumper cars as it is charged separately.

- VOOM Wifi - Has anyone taken this package? There seems to be 2 types - 1 just VOOM while the other is VOOM + Stream. What is the difference, anyone knows? Do you suppose we can sign up for just 1 device, then use tether so that my kids can use too?

Lots of taxi in Penang - no need to worry , there are big cars mpv
U can bargain - Indian n Chinese Drivers
2hr to 4 hrs . Durian, shopping, Penang hill etc
We walked around ourselves in George Town , old - looks like our old time sungei rd
My aim was Penang char kueh Teow , dessert , tau star piah , 7 -11 gums , street art - durian similar price in Spore , I din try durian.
It is hot , we walked a lot , to the sea front where some historical building were n around George Town
Advise to take cab if travel with seniors

Wifi - got to buy cruise wifi , no regrets coz we were 4 nights in sea. Can watch movie streaming on line .

Are u going Phuket ? U need to plan for Phuket coz the cruise only docked in Patong during nov period ( non monsoon ) else u join RC excursion or get a cab at Phuket pier to patong beach, elephant trek . We were more keen to see Phuket cape, shore line n patong beach plus Thai food .

1) Do you need to complete online checkin or can you do it on the actual sailing day? Is it tedious and time consuming with Long queues ?

2) On disembarkation day, do you need to leave your luggage outside your room as indicated in the instructions? Can we take charge of our own luggage bags like what it used to be in star cruises?

3) how many inclusive dining areas are there besides Windjammer ?

4) Do you need to book to play the mini Golf on board? Is there any staff in charge there?

The bath space can hardly turn tho I’m quite slim. Not for me.

There's no hard rule, but the earlier the better as the nice rooms (with balcony, etc) will be snapped up first. Also take note of seasonal promotion such as kids cruise for free, etc.

It is definitely not suitable for all. We cruised a lot more when our kids were younger. Now that they are a bit older, we do more land tours, though we still do cruise now and then.


We hardly cruise out of Singapore. The best cruises we have had brought us to exotic places with awesome scenery. Two videos to illustrate:

Actually I think it's not that impressive.

Tours will only work, if you have a few families with you, and the extra cash to pay for the family room.

The basic room is far too small, and it makes you feel like you are sleeping in a little tin can.

Really? Thankful our previous trip wasn't in the situation u highlighted.

We had a great time with RC trip to South Asia. We've bought vouchers for our next trip as the rock climbing & other activities & performances were fantastic. Heard the North Asia leg is really worthwhile (Shanghai, HK & Japan) fr veteran cruise trippers.

There were just too many wonderful holidays to go to we never came round to doing ano cruise we're hoping to do.

Stops at Penang, langkawi and Phuket.
Same question again, I won't be joining the shore excursions. And tried to ask the rc staff abt the ports. No exact ans. Hence may not pre arrange for private operator to pick us.
Penang- intend to just go local sights and goodies(but able to last for souvenirs for relatives 1 week later since it's the first stop)??? Any land iternary we can follow?
Langkawi-wanna go the cable car
Phuket- shop n eat at jungceylon
