Participation is Optional. For gals in both Ballet and Chinese dance, they Gotta Choose which one they want to perform in. Rehersals can be taxing, taking up 5 to 10 days of each sch term hols for more than 1 year.<br /><br />I'm Not Familiar with DES, but did read some prev discussions by other parents in this forum on what u r enquiring. Best tt U consult them on DES.<br /><br />As for Nafa, it's good to join them young, esp for chinese dance. They have a structured teaching which I find is good for the kids. And I think for Chinese Dance, they could be among the best in Spore.<br /><br />But of course there's no problem to join them later. Did Ballet for 1 yr+, and due to clash in schedules, got to choose bet Chinese Dance and Ballet - And she prefers Chinese Dance .... <br /><br />For Ballet, In My Gal's time, NAFA issue their own cert, and No Exam. <br />By Popular Demand / Request, Recently NAFA has extra prep class for those Gals who wish to take Ext Exam. But No NAFA Exam for Ballet.<br /><br />For Chinese Dance, The Gals Take Exam on Alternate Years for Grade 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 13(Max). Examiners R Flown in from Beijing Dance Academy.<br /><br />My Gal started Chinese Dance at NAFA in 2nd Semester of her K1.<br />Took her Grade 8 in P5 last year (there is a min Age for taking the graded exam). Now finishing her grade 9, and will be taking Grade 10 Exam Next year.<br /><br />Since NAFA Chinese Dance Class is only once a week (2 hr session), and hers is on Sunday, she has been attending it thru All her P1 to P6 years. However, that was partly due to my reluctance to stop training when I was injured, so not every injury will end up to last as long.</p>
