Morever, the full montessori means that all the children will be grouped together without the age segratgation. That may not be a good idea.

I dont think all the teachers are montessori trained. Only those that take the montessori session are. For sure the chinese language teacher is not trained in Montessori.

If you don't mind spending extra, there is art, speech and drama and chinese conversational lessons in the afternoon but of course you have to pay additional.

kaitlynangelica

Reply to Faith Montessori / CS Montessori on Thu, 12 Feb 2009 09:15:08 GMT

Hi kaitlynangelica

May I know how long your child has been there?

Do you know if all the teachers there are indeed montessori-trained?

At first I was actually a little disappointed that the only a couple of hours of the half day CC is devoted to montessori. Research has shown that the first 6 years of a child’s life are crucial to their development. And I am sure that we are not the only ones who are paying such fees. Parents in Singapore are very willing to stretch themselves to give their kids a good education or a headstart in life. And you really get what you pay for. It has been proven that kids who had a montessori pre-school education do better when they get to p1. Of course after that, it is all up to them!

They grow up too fast...

We are probably one of those parents who pay quite a bit for our child's 'education' at such a young age already But I like to believe that early childhood is very important. My husband and I always felt that we missed out on a lot of things in life because of our exposure. For instance, we believe in Speech and Drama etc, because both my husband and I have seen our friends who took these when they were young, growing up to excel in many things, eg. debating in schools, in musical areas too. Of course, we are not saying everyone would become like that, but we would like to give our children the exposure and opportunity if we can afford. The rest, is really up to them already.

I have a friend who did kindergarten in Canada and she told me she loved it there. They did cooking, baking, and had walks during autumn in forest trails, and built snowmen etc. I think it's quite 'cute' that in Singapore, we have to 'pay extra' for our kids to do baking, cooking etc Where over there, they probably feel that it's 'routine'

lovebearsallthings

Reply to Faith Montessori / CS Montessori on Fri, 06 Jun 2008 08:55:17 GMT

Mine is slightly more ex.
