It's REALLY tough considering that the kids just started science this year. Aside from learning names and stuff (thorax, abdomen, etc), the questions were focused more on application of what they learn... so it was really like conducting investigative work. A lot of the questions were really subjective.

Some examples:
1. What are the purpose of feathers on peacocks
(A) They help the peacock fly
(B) They protect the peacock's skin
(C) They are used to attract mates
(D) They keep the peacock warm

Answer:
(1) B, C, D
(2) B, D
(3) A, B, C, D
(4) C

2. A Molly:
(A) Gives birth to its young
(B) Lays eggs
(C) Is a plant
(D) Is an insect

Anyone dare attempt these questions? Play fair - no googling until you actually tried to answer.

Reply to Q&A - P3 Science on Thu, 05 Oct 2023 23:52:29 GMT

Yup 4

I am in the process of preparing revision material for my son’s August CA2 (topics tested are “Exploring Materials” and “Your Amazing Body as a System”).

Because:

(i) the Science topics tested by different schools are all jumbled up in sequence, depending on which topics the various schools want to teach/test first and teach/test later;

(ii) the sample answers that come with the free test papers are not accurate at all;

(iii) several parents have commented to me that they/their kids don’t understand how to answer the open-ended questions with the correct keywords that will score maximum points;

(iv) I have been scoring As for Science all the way till BSc myself & my kid is able to use my tips to score maximum points with my type of keyword answers; so......

I will be preparing my own doc (printable) that contains topical past year open-ended exam questions, annexed with my own answers.

If anyone is keen to get a set (when ready), can u indicate over here in this thread? Then I will either PM you or set up some cloud sharing.

*NB: I will be doing these 2 topics first as they are more urgent for my needs. I am in the process of preparing revision material for my son’s August CA2 (topics tested are “Exploring Materials” and “Your Amazing Body as a System”).

Because:

(i) the Science topics tested by different schools are all jumbled up in sequence, depending on which topics the various schools want to teach/test first and teach/test later;

(ii) the sample answers that come with the free test papers are not accurate at all;

(iii) several parents have commented to me that they/their kids don’t understand how to answer the open-ended questions with the correct keywords that will score maximum points;

(iv) I have been scoring As for Science all the way till BSc myself & my kid is able to use my tips to score maximum points with my type of keyword answers; so…

Subsequently I will do the following P3 SA2 topics (which tests the whole year’s work):

- Diversity Chapter 1: Classification of Living and Non-Living Things
- Diversity Chapter 2: Plants
- Diversity Chapter 3: Animals
- Diversity Chapter 4: Fungi and Bacteria
- Diversity Chapter 5: Exploring Materials
- Systems Chapter 1: Your Amazing Body as a System

*disclaimer: I am not a tutor. This is only out of good intentions to help your child score better in Science open-ended questions. I don’t claim to have all the right answers or the best answers!

Hi Zac‘a Mom,

Am interested too. Can include me in your list? Thanks!
