- English (Focusing on techniques to score for Compre OE, Cloze & S&T)
- Science (Focusing on revision of key topics & analysis skills)

I find that at the last minute, itโ€™s quite hard to have intensive Maths lessons unless parents are looking more for exposure.

Yes. The CA exam will be started end of February. I hope the school can finish the syllabus before end of March and they can have plenty time for revision and save us money for those workshop.

We did Science @ Modular Edn Centre (Bt Timah Plaza). My elder boy asked for it, he was not too comfortable with the sch Science teacher then. The tutor did a revision of topics from P3 to P6, concentrated on open ended qns. My boy enjoyed the lessons and told me he learnt more from the tutor.[/quote]Thanks, Jennifer. I'll need to evaluate if DS will need any intensive courses based on his CA1 and SA1 results this year. Best not needed as these courses are usually expensive and I really don't like the idea of last minute intensive drill. Well, let's play by ear and see how it goes.

Consistency is the key to success in education and examinations. A good foundation matters rather than a last minute attempt, and the students need to peak at the right time too, in the actual PSLE.

If the student has consistently done well in P6 exams, he or she will do well in PSLE.

Any parents send their P6 kid to oral / compo class in Jun? Can share which centre you went to and whether you think it is useful? My kid weak in his compo and oral, and we are wondering if the last minute crash course might help - can't be too early else he would have forgotten all by then. Thanks.

Thanks Brenda. Yes, I did call Ernest wong to enquire about the camp and the intensive weekly sessions. His advice is most of his students attend both. But currently my DD has a home tutor for math, so I may only enrol her for the camps. My pal's son attended these camps and were all praises for them.

IMHO and experience, Sep is not the time for crash course or intensive revision.
Ideally the Sep holidays should be used to recharge. After that there will be prelims papers to try out and PSLE Oralsโ€ฆ

My DD took the PSLE last year(2010). What we did for DD was take a total no books/ studies hols for 3-4 days - chilled at Sentosa chalet. And took it easy for the rest of the holidays. Of course it depends a lot on the child- DD is a self motivated kid who pushes herself so it was important for the her to peak for the PSLE than be burnt out or become too anxious.

I was a bit worried wondering if it was right strategy, but it has worked out very well for her. She is a bright student and she has done us proud this PSLE.

I am thinking of sending her to a math intensive class, any good recommendation?

Her Chinese teacher has already started preparing them for oral.3 pupils each morning at 6.50am.I am very glad to have this Chinese teacher to teach my 2nd DD. My 1st DD under her teaching scored A* two years ago without any enrichment. This teacher has good track record of pupils scoring A* under her.
So good. Your dd is very lucky to have such Chinese Teacher. We may have to look out ourself.
