Yes, effectively since you already paid in advance for them. However, sometimes they might still require you to pay the maid $20-$30 per month. This is being factored in to the 7-8 months computation and the agency should be able to advise you accordingly.

I went to Javamaids. For indo, they said the 7-8 months is not the norm these days based on new guidelines. For them, it is 3 months. I heard pros and cons. The pros is that the initial outlay for employer is not that much as it's 3 months salary versus 7-8 months. If you use PD cheques, you need to pay additional admin fee. One agent I spoke to quoted $150 if we give PD cheques. But cons from what I heard is that with shorter loan, the maid maybe not as committed??? I don't know how true. We had 2 maids in the last 11 years. So hopefully our 3rd can last long too. :xedfingers: Also, I suppose if the loan tenure is long what happens if you send the maid back to agent??? Do you continue or start all over again if you get a new maid??? :?

Agree with what you said. We will continue to get such treatment from the Ministry of Maids unless the Ministry of Maids get replaced. We are the ones who put it there.

Our pm lsl said in his recent speech \"“Because this is not about what more the government can do – of course the government must do all it can, that is its responsibility. But it’s also how we can work together to make Singapore succeed. And that calls for Singaporeans to not just speak out, but also to participate and to feel the responsibility to do their part to make things happen the right way.”

We have a wonderful pm to urge us to do our part to make things happen the right way. How daft can we be if do not heed his advice!

aiyoh....where got market price...just call agency they can tell you ... experienced? transfer? new etc.....what you look for?

people tell me where got good agency? .... you better be careful when you talk with them ...better read and see other people experience first ...open eyes wide wide when you use them...remember your money fly away when you no do homework.... good luck

because singaporean families or families in singapore who need domestic helpers are most gullible and con-able .... they can't out smart the maid agencies, they only know how to whine ..... like me :evil: :evil: :evil:

Whenever there's any change in regulations they make excuses to increase their fees, either by increasing the agency fee payable by the employers, or increasing the loan amount. egs when there was a decrease in levy years ago, they increased their fees; when MOM increased the minimum age & educational qualifications, they increased their fees.
Now, if the new regulations are implemented in Indonesia, they intend to increase their agency fees.
Some of us may say, we won't pay $1,000+ for agency fees so we'll get maids from other countries. Wanna bet?: the agents will raise fees for other maids too.

Hahhah! I agree. The agencies are all out there to take every opportunity to suck employers' $.

Ridiculous! $1,200 - $1,600 for agency fee. So now the maid is having best of the world, their loan is being reduced to $400 - $600. What if the maid asked to be transferred out after 1 month? Does employer have to pay another round of $1k+ agency fee since employer is now paying the loan for the maid?

this is confirm?

I read this in the ST papers quite some months ago. But it is not effective up to now. This is very normal of Indonesia.

Safety Course & Entry Test = $80
Insurance = $250-$300
Maid Loan = 7-8 months of the salary upfront.
