NUS HIGH SO I HAVE HIGHER CHANCE GO INTO RGS!

Okay, okay! I’ll be serious. You know your own child best- does she lovelovelove Maths and Science? If so, let her go as her heart desires! Really. I have always wanted to go to SOTA, but couldn’t because my parents think it’s ‘only for normal stream people’. -sad- Okay, I know they mean well. But if singing was a subject, I would score sososooooo high for it. I hum every day. I sing songs and post them on YouTube. I have a passion for singing, but until I can depend on myself without my parents disowning me I doubt I can pursue it.

My girl got DSA offers to the above and NYGH....she is determine to opt for NUSHigh over RGS.

Do I let her make up her own mind or persuade her to choose RGS, which is what I feel is a better choice knowing the educational system as an insider - being a teacher myself?

RGS definitely!!! More rounded education. And they go to RJC!! Gateway to Ivy League Uni in the USA

normally once a child has set his mind, goals & objectives on something, chances are he'll tend to excel in it. Because the drive, the self motivation propelling force of turbine automatically come from within, like a water fountain.

My DS's heart sealed w NUSHS since P5 & ever since he has not changed his mind even though he had the choice to go HCI. Whenever he passes by NUSHS, he will get very excited. In fact, he told me he couldn't wait to go there. Now working hard on chemistry, biology, Maths textbooks that he borrowed from his seniors .... Really happy for him that he had chosen the school he loved. Hope it work out well for him.

Hey!

Im actually a year 4 student from RG(: I think that if you want her to develop more holistically, it’d be good for her to come to RG because although it is stressful we are exposed to many aspects of character and leadership development and I personally feel that I’ve grown alot since year 1(: plus the bonds that we forge in school are really strong, its an amazing school<3

Your DD obviously know what she is doing (and what NUSH can offer her). With her passion in maths and if she choose Maths or Computing (in future careers ) she can finish NUSH within 4 years (min) and joined the Univ by 17/18 year old. But the NUSH website states that students will not graduate from NUSH in less than 6 years. They can take NUS modules but will stay the full 6 years in NUSH.

What website say is one thing. On record, there are actually 3/4 past NUSH students who \"drop out\" by 3.5 to 4 years b'cos they are so advanced to complete undergraduate modules. The school has no choice but allow them to \"graduate\" to NUS proper. That's why Dr Hang said in one of the parent talk. These 4 may or may not have gotten the NUSH Diploma (not to sure, need to verify).

Because word of mouth spreads like fire very fast, since your daughter is a proven real life example having obtained GCSE O level Maths at P5, within 10 months! gosh! indeed, it's a miracle!

My DD probably got her Maths gene from her mom, she’s the one who prepared her for the GCSE Os…all within 10 month. My DW stop work to ‘home-schooled’ them till they entered P1, and they continued their Primary educ without outside tuition. I don’t think my DD’s school contributed much to her maths though. Most primary schools just cover the basic and expect students to look for help elsewhere when they cannot cope. My DW only begin to give tuition to supplement our income when the Children were more stable in school. Guess she is now helping other kids to cope with their school works as well…she’s doing well in this as she’s got a waiting list of students.

oh, mine is a so-called \"better\" neighbour school in Bt Panjang, mainstream, no GEP, just that my DS has this passion for Maths, yesterday he spent the whole day solving a Maths question in Maths Oasis magazine ... too bad, can't solve it, maybe Frong's DD can help

Wow, your DD taking A level maths now ? No wonder she wants to go NUSHS, probably in Year 1 she can take on NUS modules already, no need to waste time, wonderful, it will be a pity if she goes elsewhere.

Wow, that's great ! At least found someone that has the same passion as DS. He is going to choose NUSHS instead of HCI from his DSA Option and take on a route less travelled by all by putting NUSHS as his 1st choice. Hope he had made the right choice !
