My DD got 8 and is eligible for third language.

However, out first priority is MEP. We currently gave our third language option since we are not sure if she will be selected for MEP.

In January, would my girl need to withdraw third language first before applying for MEP? Or get admit into MEP and then withdraw third language?

We don't want to throw away the third language option if MEP is not guaranteed.

Yup my gal just flew off for her LEP. Post covid is so good….the upper sec get to go too (without the need to submit report after that haha).

MOELC's Instagram has a lot of different trips/immersions/programmes for the various languages during the year-end break. Of course, these are only the highlights and not everyone will stick around to the upper secondary or JC levels. But if you like different languages and cultures, I think there are some interesting things to do (not saying these are any better or worse than the other subjects' add-ons).

You may already know this, but one other consideration is whether the school hosts MSP in-house (don't need to travel to MOELC).

Generally speaking, the schools that offer in-house are the SAP schools (not all but most), schools offering RSP, and a few zonal centers/other.

Otherwise or if Bishan MOELC is on the way home, just go with whatever language you are more interested in learning.

We are trying to decide between Malay and Bahasa Indonesia as a third language for our daughter. We are slightly inclined towards Bahasa Indonesia, and managed to find out that classes are held at MOELC Bishan (instead of Newton).

I saw from scrolling through the thread that there are multiple classes held daily for Malay, at MOELc.

Does anyone know which day Bahasa Indonesia classes are held? We are planning ahead and wish to avoid clash with school CCA days. Thanks very much!

Just to clarify - I am not implying anything.

'We just have to ENSURE we do the things needed to get the points' is more empowering and positive.

Growing up, I used to tell my kids that to change their mindsets that they are capable of doing most things as long as they have a plan and set their minds to it. As a result, I like to think, my kids look at challenges positively. I rarely use the term \"worry\". So it's becomes a habit.

I also think the same on the first point. Hi 5. I know a girl from few years ago, she got RGS CO under Sci but rejected and entered RGS using PSLE. The girl was confident and made her own choice. Tscore has the variable of cohort/peers standard too.

Noticed the highlighted ENSURE. I better go check .

If she is confident to score single digit AL anyway and thinks she can enter the IP-A Levels school with her PSLE score, then by NOT accepting the CO, she still has a chance of entering IP-IB school. It's a XXXXX.

Perhaps re-examining the reasons to prefer IB over A levels will give you some clarity.

As for your point on CCA, I just want to point out that I know some kids who really enjoy CCA even though they have to ENSURE they get the bonus points. Ensuring we work hard to get the LEAP points AND enjoyment of the CCA are not mutually exclusive. Skipping an exam in IP Yr 4 does not mean the Yr 4 kids have more free time to enjoy their learning process either. They are equally busy, if not busier than those taking O level exams. The IP kids are just busier doing something else decided by the school instead of mugging the 10-year series.

All the best in your decisions. Whatever you choose, you did your best as a parent at this point in time. I went through your entire thinking process many years ago for my first child. As long as our kids make the best out of every situation, they will win/gain something.
