Hi,
I know little about local primary schools in Singapore,
I am wondering about St Gabriel's Primary School, does anyone know if the lower primary students have to complete homework everyday?
Does the school conduct examinations (either tests or formal exams) or if they simply use a broad grading system in the lower primary years?

Hi parents, any parents got in this year for SC <1 - 2km? OR all 2C taken up for SC >1km? Has any parents gotten calls for PV next year? Im not sure if my PV applications got settled. But due to coivd19 the school told me to continues waiting for their calls...not sure how the chances are now......

- put yourself on waitlist ASAP at Rosyth. As a former PV, you have some sort of priority for appeal, especially if the school leaders remember you well.

- YZ PV chance that you gave up, don’t beat yourself about it, cos you would have tried Rosyth anyway.

- Boys school boys are more rowdy, but boys school is willing to cater to their later development/maturity. Ask yourself: are your 2 boys meek and non-sporty kind who don’t know how to stand firm against bullies? If so, go mixed school. Are your 2 boys on par in reading & writing, socio-emotional regulation compared to their female peers in kindergarten? If so, go mixed school.

- your kids have another chance to get into Rosyth if they are selected for GEP. That will be up to their own brain. I know a boy from Yangzheng who chose Catholic High GEP though.

Even if you do both PV, you will still choose to ballot Rosyth, it is just the way it is. Try YZ at 2C, it has a good chance to ballot. Montfort and Zhonghua sure in 2CS, can be backup.

Over to EILEENTWF84, whats done cannot be undone, Rosyth in 2C is not for faint heart, 4-5 times over the applicants is no joke. For YZ, i dont think its a repeat of the horror story in 2018. I think its a fair good chance of going in without ballot for your distance (maybe more like PR within 1km or SC >2km). In the unlikely chance of a ballot, the odds shd be still better than Rosyth odds.

If you are fine with YZ, i think a more reasonable move. Spend more time prep for 2Cs choices, to feel more settled.

So far I like the school environment and culture. The teachers over there are very caring, patient and nice.

For p1 is pretty much like a honeymoon period. For p2 n p3 onwards, they will staggard the homework so the kids can cope with the changes.

Zhonghua is having it's open house on July 16th, 9am-12pm. Called up Yangzheng and was told that there will be no open house.

YangZheng is the more popular one and usually it requires balloting in Phase 2C for those 1-2 km. But take note that last year it conducted balloting for those < 1 km in Phase 2C.

You may go to http://sis.moe.gov.sg/ and find which CCAs the schools are offering and best suits your daughter. Afterall, your daughter would need to select a CCA when she is in P3 onwards.


It does sound to me you have already decided which school to select.

actually i don't have any clue which one to go.. maybe I should find out more of the schools cca first.
