I thought since he's already on full day programme from Mon to Fri should be more than enough for him but find him a bit loss (ie dun know what to do during his free time in the evenings and weekends) he will draw a bit then ask for my attn to play. dun like to write šŸ˜ž

He tried GUG before. seems to like it. may want to go back and check out their weekend programmes again.

Wanted to share our poor experience with E-Bridge Sengkang. Our impression was that they have poor communication and, more importantly, an alarming lack of integrity. Take extra care of enrolling your child there!

  • We were invited to a pre-enrolment visit at E-bridge Sengkang. My wife and I took leave to visit, but didn't bring our child

  • A school staff said we would have to bring our child along for the visit. The e-mail did not state this was mandatory. We asked if we could proceed anyway, given we had taken leave specially for this, but were unceremoniously and rudely shut down.

  • The rationale? That our child had to be there for the 30min visit for an easier transition. Keep in mind our child is 18 months old, and the vacancy was not for another 3 months.

  • The staff kept cutting us off to give an ultimatum: take leave again and come back with your child, or give up your slot. We asked if she could check with management for an exception, but were told \"she's on leave today, I don't want to disturb her\"

  • We said would reschedule, and left

  • We e-mailed the centre to reschedule, and to clarify on the policy, especially given COVID
    • [/list][list=]
  • On 16 Nov, the centre replied the vacancy was no longer available. Keep in mind on the first call, they said we had until 19 Nov to visit and enroll

  • We asked why and the explanation was that they had called multiple families for that spot, and one had taken it up.

  • We asked for clarification - are they offering one vacancy to multiple families simultaneously?

  • The centre backtracked and replied that it was actually because we said we were no longer interested.

  • We said no such thing. If we did, why would we e-mail to clarify on policy and reschedule? It was either:

  • A) They rescinded the spot because of our e-mail and lied about it initially

  • B) They offered a single vacancy to multiple families simultaneously

  • Either way, I'll leave you to form your opinion on their practices. For us, it's left us with an awful impression of E-Bridge. We've also dropped Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA) a note about this. They've since reached out to investigate and have been very helpful.

    My experience with them has been absolutely wonderful. The principal and teachers are all very dedicated to teaching the children.

    I am very impressed by the kindergarten. They even had a few silkie chickens at the garden. Even though it was not a permanent fixture, my son keeps telling me he wants to go to school to see them.
    Recently, they have converted the carpark to house a childcare.
    So parents looking out for childcare, can consider them! The building is totally brand new and looks very well equipped with new things for children.

    I am seeking a pre-school in Sengkang for my 2 year old son. He is currently in Hamilton but the school is closing down. So I have to find him an ideal school soon.



    What is an ideal school?

    * One that let kids be kids ā€“ that means to let them play. Ideally, I hope learning can be adapted through play.
    * Nurturing teachers. We teach our kid without beating or shouting (AKA traditional asian discipline), and it has worked very well for us.
    * (Good to have) ā€“ A wide open place for outdoor fun!



    Constraints:

    * School fees are not a problem. If something is good and expensive, I will take it.
    * I will prefer for it to be in Sengkang area. If not, the surrounding areas such as Hougang/Buangkok/Kovan will suffice.



    Some selections that we have looked at:

    * MMI at Compassvale cannot make it. The concept of MMI is not good enough to make up for the poorer quality of teachers there.
    * Kinderland/Mindchamps - Too focused on academia.



    Does anyone have opinions on:

    * Little Footprints - I am open to this but their main outlet is full, if Iā€™m not wrong.
    * Maplebear - There is a new one opening near Hamilton but itā€™s based out of a large landed property. I am not sure if it is big enough.
    * Or please recommend me one!

However, we believe that we should give to out kids the opportunity to learn Chinese, given the high and increasing importance of the language.


    We chose MindChamps over other preschools in our area mainly because it offers a Chinese preschool, which gives more emphasis on the Chinese language, not only through academic lessons but also through the daily activities.
    We believe that the kids should ā€˜playā€™ a lot and that school is meant to be fun for the kids. So MindChamps fits the bill as the curriculum is very structured, with a good balance between academic and non-academic aspects. We particularly like the enrichment classes that MindChamps offers which are already part of the fees.

    I would like to share our experience with MMI-Compassvale and overall how MMI works.
    My learning is- Money or higher fee canā€™t get you good and ethical teachers in School, FOR ME THEY ARE NOTHING LESS THAN A FRAUD so please be very mindful before sending your kids to this school in particular.

    As such we sent our daughter to MMI for Nursary-2, not even 4 years old and we really had horrendous experience with them, they are bunch of liars and having NO INTEGRITY.

    In short, one fine day they call us for meeting and asked us to withdraw our kid because my kid is very active and teacher is OLD lady so she was finding hard to manage her properly which we knew and told them well in advance
    So instead of fixing the issue they charged some FALSE allegation on kid which we asked them to substantiate and they were NOT able to prove ANYTHING what they claimed and end up telling us lies after lies.

    Claim 1-
    Camera in School- We asked them to show camera footage, initially they said they have it but later on they declined and informed us they DONT HAVE CAMERA at all, if they are right then why canā€™t they share the clip? - No answers provided by MMI.

    Claim 2-
    Teacherā€™s lied-
    In due course teachers lied one after another just to prove their point but officially they couldnā€™t prove anything and one thing for sure they donā€™t have any integrity at all.
    So imagine if teachers/management is bunch of liars themselves then what they are going to teach to your kid? To TELL LIES?? And all unethical things in life? is their anything called values in life-probably they only know VALUE of Money only.

    We contacted the MMI headquarters but they simply apologies and didnā€™t answered the hard questions or say the mess created by their teachers or the lies which they told us.

    We contacted the government authority ECDA but what we understood is they canā€™t help on this except giving WARNING TO SCHOOL, which they did and school does apologies.
    Itā€™s a shame that related government organisation having its own limit and they canā€™t take strict action against school/management/culprit teachers and MMI simply apologies on whole incident to escape but damage has been already done on our end,
    Who will fulfil that? And trauma which child has gone through? These are the questions which are unanswered and will remain unanswered.

    So moral of this post is-
    1. BE CAREFUL about behaviour of MMI Management and itā€™s teachers.
    2. Higher fee doesnā€™t guarantee good education/value for your kid.

    Note- I do have all the mails/communication where all these things are mentioned very clearly and school did apologies on their teacher false claims/misdeeds.

    My advice- PLEASE BE VERY CAREFUL BEFORE TAKING ADMISSION OR THINKING ABOUT MMI, THEY CHARGE PREMIUM BUT THEY SCREW BIG TIME, REST IS YOUR CHOICE, ALL THE BEST!!

Generally the teachers are ok. But I really like the principal. So, my girl was sick a couple of months back and sheā€™s recovering but still unable to recover fully (coughing at least once a day) for months. Sheā€™ll recover completely over the weekend then go back to school and start coughing again. It was to the point that I wanted to move her out of the school, cos itā€™s so frustrating.


    So I decided to call the school and ask for the school to help me with this. The principal immediately took action to double the cleaning and hand wash for every child at the infant care side. Within a week, my girl stopped those nagging coughing.

    I just appreciate how the principal took me seriously.

    I am staying at Fernvale, have a boy who is currently in K1 now. As my boy is very curious, I wanted to find a pre-school which is able to allow him to explore and also at the same time be able to learn some academics (being in Singapore and all). I was looking around and found a pre-school near Yio Chu Kang Mrt. When I first got there, I really liked the place as the school has an open concept, environment was clean and bright. But I have a slight concern about the potential noise level. The principal Ms Pei, was very kind. She actually helped to allay my concerns and patiently guided me through their curriculum. And I found out they actually have a compulsory swimming program for K1 and K2, which does not have extra costs!
    Ms Pei also told me that they have weekly and monthly outdoor trips to enable their kids to explore beyond the classrooms, which is something I really like since my boy is really pretty active.

    Also, they have a K2 Alpha-kids program which is focused on helping the kids to bridge to P1, which is something I am very concerned after hearing all the stressful parents' stories about P1! The distance from my house in Fernvale to the preschool is abit of a concern though, but Ms Pei actually said that they provide a school-bus service from Fernvale to the school.

    It has been a half a year since I send my kid to the school and really, i can't say about other schools, but I am really pleased with the teachers' patience and dedication to the children. My boy really enjoys his lessons and now he is learning to swim pretty well! I rarely recommend things, as every parent has their preferences, but this school has impressed me with the quality of their staff and thus I feel that I must give a shout-out for them.     1. The teacher told me weekdays the teachers are all busy with the kids, difficult for them to entertain me with the kids around. I said the principal can explain to me, then she changed her words and said the centre dun want the visitors to interrupt the lessons, kids will get distracted. -.- ( The cc seems not very opened to let parents see how the lessons are being conducted.)
    2. She is K1 English teacher.
    3. I did tell her the reason I want to know. Then she told me my kid is only in pre nursery, the curriculum could be changed. ( not in a good tone)

    That's weird? I am not sure who did u spoken to. But i did went down to visit the place w my hb and youngest kid whom i am going to place her there. I was guided by Shirley, the admin. She did shared the curriculum with me. My niece was grad there. During my visit, the k2 kids are having the gym. Only thing i dislike is the floor size as my kids are currently in kindy setup, so cc floorsize looks small to me.
