There is actually not much of choice as the choice of school is largely determined by the GE branch based on their own posting criteria. Not asking for agreement.</blockquote></blockquote>From what I know, technically speaking, ooioo did not make the choice, her dd did because whether to join GEP or not is not something a parent can decide for the child.  The child has to decide first. It's faster to liaise with school or transport company's boss. I did this a couple of times with regards to inconvenient or umdesirable pick-up venue and no-shows (DD was left in a dark corner early morning to wait, but he was early...earlier than stipulated time, so didn't wait up for her).<br /><br />If the entire bus load of students and parents are affected, run a petition for school or the trpt company to either review or revoke (must check back tender agreement). So, i choose to think that<br />we are not the only ones who have to make adjustments and not the only ones who<br />have to make sacrifices. Imagine how much waaayy earlier<br />the other children have to wake up and be picked up. So, i choose to think that<br />we are not the only ones who have to make adjustments and not the only ones who<br />have to make sacrifices. I understand their contraints and all. <br /><br /><br />But just to say something about distance to school. I do not have any schools within 1 km and the schools within 2km are hot schools. So no choice I had to register DS in a school outside of 2km. So sometimes, it is not by choice that the kids end up in schools that are a bit further. </p></blockquote></blockquote>You had a choice of vying for top schools but you did not.<br />After which you made the choice to go out of the 2km, correct?<br />In DDs' previous school it's the same scenario for us. Hence when the<br />transport operator said they cannot do pick-ups beyond usual school dismissal<br />ie. CCAs and Supplementary lessons : no pick-up... we still continued there but i had<br />to bring baby sleeping in carrier rain or shine (cos it was sleeping time) when i needed <br />to fetch the girls from school in the afternoons or send DD2 for morning programs (she was in PM session then).<br /><br />It was a hassle no doubt. But one i was prepared to make cos i wanted them to stay in that<br />school. :please: It had been worth all the trouble. So we made the choice to stay put. Yes that was a choice. <br /><br />Yes taking up GEP is a choice. And ooioo made that choice. She is not lamenting the distance but why school buses have to reach the school so early. The rest of us choose to accept the way things are, ooioo is choosing to see if she can change things. And again that IS a choice right? She is just asking for avenues to flag her concerns. Back to ooioo, GEP branch has a counselor and welfare officer for every school.  Call GEP and ask who is yours and ask her to help.  One officer supports 2-3 GEP schools.  I don’t know who is RGPS’s.  Ask GEP’s Deputy director for primary, Mrs Chan?</p>
