It is also good to know that I am not the only parent feeling the same and I am not "weired" as what the bus operator try to convince me that I am, when I talk to them on this.

I feel that something is done wrong here to our children, our students and something must be done about it.

I sincerely feel that alot of the traffic issue around sch is because of bus operators quality of service thus creating another problem where more and more parents decided to send their children to school themselves

due to prior contract and commitments btwn bus operators
and workers... must be prepared to make other arrangements
or sacrifices.

We support our children the best way we can. It's understandable.

There is actually not much of choice as the choice of school is largely determined by the GE branch based on their own posting criteria. From my experience with GEP branch, which I think is the appropriate people to approach, they will lend a sympathetic ear, and then suggest you do one of those in the list anyway.

Correct. From our experiences with schools.. principals.. bus operators.. it's the same as well... everywhere.

There is indeed NO perfect solution like one for all. If there is then yes, perfect.
But what we can do is to find a solution that can fit us better if we really have no eye to see the trpt service offered to us anymore.

That's why i shared she has to look
into other options instead of looking
for who it is up there, who in my honest
opinion will be of least help to her. Having
said tt however, still no harm trying ie. going
ahead with the need to inform an MOE officer.

The sacrifices parents have to make are aplenty. If this is not an option, then perhaps ooioo has to weigh out other options:

1. Send via own transport (e.g. car, public bus, charter a taxi)
2. Find a car pool
3. Find a small bus operator that is willing to take
4. Change to another school
5. Bare with it
6. Give a big ang pao to the bus operator and ask him to send the bus that reaches school later.

I live in Toh Guan Rd and my DS school bus arrives at 0555hrs... For school bus that arrives at 0630am, its already good enough. When I do my walks after putting DS up the bus, I noticed the RGPS bus comes around my area at 0615am, and the bus load of girls will be sleeping away.

Yes taking up GEP is a choice. And ooioo made that choice. She is not lamenting the distance but why school buses have to reach the school so early. The rest of us choose to accept the way things are, ooioo is choosing to see if she can change things. And again that IS a choice right? She is just asking for avenues to flag her concerns. Not asking for agreement.
From what I know, technically speaking, ooioo did not make the choice, her dd did because whether to join GEP or not is not something a parent can decide for the child. The child has to decide first. So ooioo is trying to support her child's decision here.

Yes. Not all. So in the end we are left to make the best of what we can for our children. I would be caught in the same situation if DD was to be accepted into a GEP school as well. 😂

Writing in to MOE to no matter which person will yield the slowest response. It's faster to liaise with school or transport company's boss. I did this a couple of times with regards to inconvenient or umdesirable pick-up venue and no-shows (DD was left in a dark corner early morning to wait, but he was early...earlier than stipulated time, so didn't wait up for her).

If the entire bus load of students and parents are affected, run a petition for school or the trpt company to either review or revoke (must check back tender agreement). Also to bear in mind trpt service has to consider peak hour traffic congestion... that arriving in school slightly later might pose.

My girls are the last ones to be picked up. Imagine how much waaayy earlier
the other children have to wake up and be picked up. So, i choose to think that
we are not the only ones who have to make adjustments and not the only ones who
have to make sacrifices. Not asking for agreement definitely (apologies if it came out
that way) but for better understanding of situation that could perhaps be resolved......?

Cos in this matter the member is asking for assistance is for highest MOE official's contact to (i'm not sure) complain /feedback / seek solace.. compromise.. or perhaps intervention of some kind? 🤷

If there is only one transport provider available for that distance then there is honestly not much that can be done, if transport service is the only option the member can opt for.

Other options will be to charter a personal taxi perhaps or car pool with other parents who stay within the vicinity, which will take some networking effort on member's part.
Haiyoh, you know and I know. We both do see some of the challenges and the constraints.

This thing started in another thread lah. Some of the same arguments were raised there as well. if you know which sch my dd is in, go to that thread. that is if you are interested to know more.

While I may not agree totally with ooioo, I do respect her resolve in this matter.

But just to say something about distance to school. I do not have any schools within 1 km and the schools within 2km are hot schools. So no choice I had to register DS in a school outside of 2km. So sometimes, it is not by choice that the kids end up in schools that are a bit further.

You had a choice of vying for top schools but you did not.
After which you made the choice to go out of the 2km, correct?
In DDs' previous school it's the same scenario for us. Hence when the
transport operator said they cannot do pick-ups beyond usual school dismissal
ie. CCAs and Supplementary lessons : no pick-up... we still continued there but i had
to bring baby sleeping in carrier rain or shine (cos it was sleeping time) when i needed
to fetch the girls from school in the afternoons or send DD2 for morning programs (she was in PM session then).

It was a hassle no doubt. But one i was prepared to make cos i wanted them to stay in that
school. :please: It had been worth all the trouble. My girls' had a wonderful time/experience
there and have great memories of the wonderful teachers, principal, staff and frenz there.
In fact, hubs and i also still have frenz from then.
