Phase 2B very safe, all SC/PR no ballot.

Catholic High - ballot within 1km. Hence, the rest of the discussion is moot.

Holy Innocent - balloting > 2km. You have to see whether you can stomach the odds.

Maris Stella - should be bao jiak but possibility of balloting > 2km due to new housing developments. Really depends on Phase 1 and Phase 2A take up.

Ultimately it is the MOE staff who needs to handle this, especially how they might have created more work for the hotlines and ground staff because of some vague information in the beta site! They have removed all the clarity found in the older site in regards to Phase 2B documents. I can only attest to what I read before.

Neither did I say go get a new / recent endorsement
Except for the unique case of Bahasa Indonesia certificate. Didn't ask him to go get a new (Singapore) baptism certificate but is the original genuine? Who knows whether it's one of those that one buys from Amazon (no offense but yes, Amazon sells angmoh baptism certificate). I am assuming the Church will know (and if he's been attending church, they definitely will know!).

Notice that unlike PV, MOE didn't state any dateline / timeline for the rest of Phase 2B endorsement. Churches, clans and the PA set their own rules. The baptism certificate IS an endorsement. The main thing being that the Catholic church didn't set an expiry date to their endorsement (unlike clans and the PA - must pay your dues, such as membership fees, time spent, etc).

Frankly this lack of confidence in MOE is surprising, following the spirit of the earlier replies, get the name of the person on the MOE hotline whatever the advice given and then confirm this with the school (which is also staffed by MOE anyway). Unless the person of authority who decides for this Phase within the school admin is made known to you, you just have to hope you are speaking to the right person. And then there is speaking directly to one of the Catholic brothers for either of this school.

It's not MOE responsibility to help you get your endorsement. AFTER the letter or certificate is endorsed, MOE (via the school) will administer you. If you can't get the necessary endorsement, MOE won't administer you.

It's not about lacking of confidence in MOE, it's about understanding the necessary process flow of Step 1 -> Step 2 and so on.

The reason why I suggested as the schools directly is because each Catholic school has different documents that they will accept.

Eg. Some may accept either parent’s baptism cert. Others may require the child’s baptism cert. And quite likely they need an English translation of the doc, but maybe they will accept Bahasa cert if someone in the school office is qualified to translate or verify it.

Just ask the school directly. It’s impossible that the school admin does not know. They are the ones who will have to view and process the doc on registration day.

The 2 schools are so different. Maris Stella is a SAP school - the kids must take Higher Chinese immediately from P1 onwards. SJIJ kids start P1 with normal Chinese.

Both schools have balloting for phase 2B. So it depends where your house is. U may or may not get a confirmed seat. If u can get into either one without having to ballot, just go for that one.

You didn’t mention which school you’re aiming for your girl. If she gets in by distance priority, you are locked into that address for 30 months. Since your kids are born < 3 years apart, you won’t be able to move back closer to Cat High for your son’s registration.

If you are within 1km of CHS, you won't be within 1km of SNGS. If you are looking at Phase 2B, the odds are not in your favor and the likelihood of not being able to even ballot is high if you are > 2km. However, if you are in Phase 2A and < 2km, there's a glimmer of hope.

However, if you are move to within 1km of St. Nicks, you are more than 1km from CHS which means you would probably have to give up on CHS.
