Mind to share with me how much household income is enough to support a family?
Thinking to quit the job but also scare later financial wise will bcome tight.
Is 5k enough to maintain a family?

BIL lost job first. Then 2 months later, my sis lost job. Found job 3 months later but only $3k income. They have 3 kids, 2 struggled academically. So they did not cut tuition. They cut school buses. Woke up early to cook, pack food to school and walked kids to school. When they did not eat out, no shopping, only take bus/MRT and started budgeting… they realised they could make ends meet.

Yup, it's what your current lifestyle is and what changes you are willing to make. Frankly, $5K a month is not very much esp if you have more than 1 kid who needs to attend enrichment etc. I am assuming you guys are financing a flat so it will be tight if you also need a car. Possible but not much savings left.

Some pple can take bus everyday and be satisfied while some must buy continental cars... it all depends on your lifestyle really. \"Sufficient or not\" is very subjective.

Your decision to quit also depends on how much $$ you actually make. If your contribution is >50% of the total household income ie. around what your other half makes, then it is very significant. If you only make less than half of what your hubby makes, then maybe it's ok to stay home.
I agree. Sufficient depends on the lifestyle you have and how much adjustment the family is willing to do. All I know is that for emergency needs, you have to save at least 3 to 6 months worth of expenses. But in totality, it really depends how much you earn, how much are your regular expenses and your lifestlye.

Even though not working allows you to take better care of kids but sometimes due to the relationship u have with them. Learning may not be as easy especially as they grow older and have their own views. I have friends whom are teachers and yet unable to coach own kids and still have to engage in tuition. Also, your own lifestyle will have to change a lot as well. For me, I did stop work for a few months… I feel that SAHM’s effort cannot really be seen or tabulated like salary or work achievement. Personally I would prefer to work. Not sure if it would be the case for u but part time work like elderflower says is a good idea

Yes, you are right. It is a brave step to invest our hard earn money to something that would really work for us, for our need. We are also thinking the same thing but my partner is quite hesitant to do this because he's afraid that we might be scammed. Any suggestions?

Hmm. I’m not an expert but have done some investing myself. Takes a bit of experimenting to learn the ropes. But you can try some of the robo-investor platforms like StashAway. Just choose your preferred risk profile, put in some amount either upfront or monthly and let them do the rest of the work.

That's essentially making granola. I also prefer my oats crunchy. I make a batch of granola every 2-3 weeks using oats, brown sugar (in water), with different nuts, seeds and some raisins or other dried fruit. It keeps well. And you can add fresh fruits when you eat it too.
