Seen a dermatogist, prescribed steriod medication. I use aqueous cream, various lip balms but his upper lips still chapped and bleed. I try not to use too much steriod if possible cos of the thinning effect. Also try to eliminate dairy products, spicy & acidic food from his diet, but nothing seems to work. I’m very desperate now and sincerely seek any parents with any ideas (other than medication) to help him overcome this painful and itchy problem. TIA

Yes, it is very annoying to see DS keeps licking his lips. It is costlier - think I paid $65 for a tiny tube - and must be prescribed by a doctor.

Since it’s recurring, you need to find the trigger - as you have been trying to do. I can only think of two possibilities besides food - he’s allergic to certain chemicals or ingredients in the lip balms, or he has a recurring low-grade infection that keeps flaring up, especially with the bleeding, or a combination of both factors.
