In my time, teachers are someone with authority, what they said, our parents will listen. Now, parents will argue with teachers, threaten to go principal, go to the press…

the problem with parents nowadays, we have one or two kids only…hence our kids are so precious, cannot let them "suffer" But what are we creating? a generation of "toufu" kids?? To me, it is ridiculous to report to police for this case…what is the father trying to "show"? He can make the teacher "bow" down to him?

just the other day, my DS was telling me how his Chinese teacher is very fierce, sometimes will throw the white board duster at the white board cause she was very angry with the class. My first reaction was (protective instinct and not using my brain, using my emotions): "I need to call school and check". Then my brain took over and try to picture myself as the teacher facing a class full of 30 plus boys…alot of the boys have no interest in Chinese…I can then understand the frustrations the teacher felt. It is not an easy job to be teaching a class of boys, especially you know that alot of the boys in the class are not concentrating in your lessons.

We, as parents, should not be questioning the authority of teachers at the slightest complaints from our kids. We need our kids to know, in everywhere they go, they will have to be answerable to some form of authority…in school, it will be their teachers, principal. At work, it will be their bosses, etc…

I can understand how parents will feel "heartpain" when they see their kids got "harsh" treatments or words from their teachers or coaches…but sometimes in lives, we need to "toughen" our kids up for them to face the adult world in the future…
