Is it true that children are generally more confident and outspoken due to the training at the school? Does the school curriculum prepare the children well for primary school? Is it adequate or we need to add additonal enrichment classes for them? Thank you for your time and attention.

She loves it there as d teachers r warm n helpful. She remembers her N2 teacher Su who is now teaching @ Turf Club when we saw her @ interchange. Really is heart warming to know dat both teacher n student remember one another.

Flexicare programme is when class ends at about 4pm. They r quite strict about pick up when child is on flexicare. Fees is lesser den dat of a full day which will end @ 6pm. Usually bt 4pm - 6pm, d kids r having their t break, followed by either story telling or games.

For those who r doing Flexi, they usually have music, speech & drama (English & Mandarin) or creative writing in d afternoon.

Currently DD’s class has 10 students, but not all r on flexi or full. Hence, class size is smaller in d afternoon.

My wife and I will be moving house, and we were switching our daughter to Chiltern House Turf Club. We are new to the Chiltern House curriculum, so I just want to enquire:

1) Our daughter currently attends a 9am-3:30pm school curriculum day. Does Turf Club have AM and PM slots? In your opinion, are those shorter hours sufficient, especially for K1 and K2 learning?

2) What exactly is the Flexicare programme, and how much extra do you pay for that, as opposed to an AM or PM format?

3) How is the school in general, with its learning style, philosophy, and teacher ratio, amongst other factors? Would you recommend the place?

Thanks for sharing. My son will join CH Turf Club when he turns 19 month in Jan next year. He is not shy but doesn't warm up to new situation easily. I'm worried he will cry for more than a month. May I know how many children are there in PreN Thomson class?

But to my suprise the teacher in preN class in CH thomson can handle him well. He has big improvement and more independent now. She mentioned the environment at Thomson is not great in terms of exposure to outdoors but the learning there is quite good. However she did say that she finds the Mountbatten and Forum branches one of the best amongst the other branches. Their teachers seem to know all the kids, they are energetic and enthusiastic and genuinely interested in engaging the children. To me, the quality of teachers is one of the most important considerations. The ‘name’ of the centre could be good but if the teachers there do not teach well, my child cannot learn anything.

Visited Chiltern House at SLF building in April 2018. Was excited about the visit becoz I hv heard a lot of good things about this school. Unfortunately, the school din work for me. The facilities were very old, looks run down and dated. I especially hated the preschool classroom as it was small and I was concerned when the school told me that the PG and N1 group students r not allowed out of the school due to their age. They hv to stay within a very small contained area. I will hate to hv my girl cooped up in a tiny classroom all day with access only to a sad looking tiny indoor plastic playground.

Dun hv good vibes of the school. No matter how good their Teachers or teaching methods maybe, the facilities were simply too small, too old.. there was not even enough natural or proper lighting in it. I felt suffocated during the tour itself.

Sorry you didn't have a good tour at the Thomson branch. Did you visit CH's other branches and other schools? I brought my 10 month old son for a visit last month, he totally enjoyed it. He got a chance to interact with the teachers, students and played in few of the classrooms. I would have liked it better if they had an outdoor playground setting, hence, we visited their Turf Club branch for comparison, which my son also loved, he enjoyed himself so much that he stayed for almost 3 hours, refusing to go home. We had just signed him up for next year's playgroup session, hope to meet more parents who are sending their kids at CH next year 🙂

The teacher was very patient and we felt she took her time to understand, connect and made learning phonics enjoyable for her to take books at her own time to explore.

Hi, i'm intending to send my son (N1) to Chiltern House - East Coast Branch any review of the teachers there? i understand they have moved to a new location.

Yes, they are now at Mountbatten, I went to see the East Coast branch and Mountbatten branch when I went down. I thought both sounded good, but I chose Mountbatten because the head teacher - teacher Nora seemed to be able to explain in better detail to me the curriculum. The teachers there including the chinese teachers also seemed engaged and to really know the kids. I have a friend whose child is in the East coast branch - K1 this year. She says they are good too. Most parents I talked to since joining have told me they like the school.

Did that system help your child with their reaching? Because I am now hunting for a good phonics enrichment for my dd. Did your child still need phonics enrichment?

Yes it helped. I sent for phonics enrichment for just 1 term but I felt the school quite adequately prepared for P1 so I did not continue with phonics enrichment. But I do feel every child is different. I had friends whose kids were in CH who sent for enrichment too.

They are able to read and write, they need to do creative writing at N2. Of course it is not very advanced stuff but good enough.
