<![CDATA[How to tell if pregnant?]]>I have some Koi fish. One of them I noticed has a rather protruding tummy recently. How do I tell whether it’s pregnant and how do I know if the fish are male or female?


Anyone got any idea?

Hi limlim, yes I read your post. But no fish chasing it around. They just like to swim in groups.


My theory is maybe the eggs are not ripe yet. Abit like the female body. When the eggs are ripe it will be released and we get menses when nothing happen.

When we get pregnant, only our tummy part grow bigger. So I noticed the fish also growing bigger at the tummy part. The rest of the body not much weight gain

No eggs....still impregnanted with don't know what. I haven't got the time to take photo to verify with the fish farm.


The water is kind of murky and the fish are eating my water plant. At first I thought there could be a large caterpillar lurking around then my dH says its fish eating the plants.

2) turn the fish into Sashimi on the dinner plate.
3) feed it with ecstasy pills.
4) borrow someone’s hand OR head to rub the fish’s head.
5) leave the fish alone. If there’s eggs, means all is well. Bingo. Female! If nothing’s happening, the fish is a constipated male.
6) shake the fish tail real hard.
7) bring the fish to a vet.
😎 one kid suggested google, another says he is better off finding Nemo.
