My girl is in p5 and also interested applying for theatre in SOTA. Can I check what is the typical intake and what kind of questions are we expecting?

If get through 2nd interview, do we need prepare a portfolio of her past performances?

My daughter is also P5 and interested in applying for theatre. She doesn’t really have any experience other than being in drama club for her CCA.

For the Literary Arts domain, are the following still true (was the case based on prior posts)?

#1. Literary Arts students do not have a dedicated IB(DP) Category 6 (\"Arts\") subject in Years 5-6. They will take either Theater or Film if they stick with Category 6.

#2. If don't want to take Category 6*, the options are:
a) Take Literature and Performance (SL only) from Category 1 (\"Studies in Language and Literature\").
b) Take another class from one of Categories 2-4 (\"Language Acquisition,\" \"Individuals and Societies,\" or \"Sciences\").
*Not sure if this is still allowed, as the Curriculum booklet says \"Arts\" is one of the three HL subjects.

Also,

#3. Can students take 4 subjects at HL or is it strictly 3 HL / 3 SL?

#4. Roughly speaking, how many students enter Literary Arts each year?

Seems like the IB(DP) scores have gone up the last few years (believe most SG schools had good results in 2021).
2021: Average = 41.4, more than 1 in 2 scoring 42+
2020: Average = 38.7, more than half scoring 39+
2019: Average = 38.5, half scoring 39+

He applied SOTA too.


If I’m not wrong, we still go for shortlisting, audition, interview.

Then wait for CO, WL and etc.

But come October, when we need to indicate school choices via the moe portal, we need to submit SOTA and / or other dsa CO-WL in that 3 choices.

DAY 3- Kid wanted to arrive extra early to meet his newly made friends/candidates at SOTA

- What did you do well
- Give an example of you being resistant/resilient/stubborn?

Hi!
Is there anyone who has applied only to SOTA and not to any other MOE school through MOE DSA? (Asking for student who is in mainstream Primary school).
SO since SOTA follows their own admission procedure is there any formality to be completed through the MOE DSA website or simply wait for TA results and indicate SOTA as preferred school if one gets a CO?

I was unable to find this information elsewhere.

Everyone encouraged him to apply for Visual Arts in SOTA, however we are concerned if he could sustain the academic rigour once inside, because he is not academic at all. His P5 AL was 22 so he had to work hard to bring this to at least 20 to qualify for the required level, to begin with. He did better in languages but both English and Chinese were still at AL 5 also. Any thoughts from experienced SOTA parents? I wonder if kids who can’t study like this will be better off taking normal O level or IB which is supposed to be more holistic? Thanks in advance.
