Choosing off-peak time to visit such as during Spring and Autumn offer pleasant temperatures and fewer crowds. Steering clear of large events, which sometimes causes prices to go up. I also take time in reading blogs and watching videos on YouTube for travel tips in how to avoid tourist traps, saving money. If you’re going to travel for a few days in Lisbon, getting the Lisboa Card provides either free or reduced admission to the majority of Lisbon’s attractions. The card also offers unlimited rides on public transport within Lisbon with an added bonus of 10% to 70% on accommodation in Lisbon https://www.lisbonportugaltourism.com/lisboa-card.html. Another bonus of this card is that trains from to Cascais and Sintra are also free.

What’s your take on hiring a local guide when traveling to a new country? It will cost more than exploring on your own, but you’ll save time, get insider information, avoid the boring stuff, and you’ll feel safe. Still unsure if hiring a local guide is for you? LOVE Amalfi Coast. And Cinque Terre too! Was going to go there, but thought of sticking to my 2020 itinerary instead. Nice - you have to go to Monaco/French Riviera too.

Actually France is very family oriented and pro-kids! You will see many family with kids in Paris as it's illegal for their working parents to work or reply to emails during non-working hours. Some Michelin-starred restaurants allow kids to go in, Le Cinq, Le Meurice, Joel Robuchon, Guy Savoy, etc. But it's the dress code and degustation menu that might dissuade you from taking kids there to dine. There's quite a far bit of stuffs that my DC couldn't and won't eat previously, e.g. edible flowers, foie gras, tartare, oysters, escargots, tiramisu, just to name a few. But the small portions are actually good enough for a kid if you choose to go ala carte and pick food that your DC can consume. I recall Joel Robuchon even served us a free main course to try.
You can also take your toddler to afternoon tea/brunch, so it's less fussy for you. Do you know you can take your kid to The Ritz for afternoon tea? And Angelina Cafe, Hermes Cafe and so on? Just walk in! Few tourists last year you see. LOL!

Also, many museum restaurants (E.g. at Musee D'orsay/Louvre) and historic brasseries (Bouillon Chartier, Le Train Bleu, Au Pied de Cochon, Le Procope, Cafe de Flore, L'Escargot, and a host of others that literati, artists and revolutionaries had hung out at since the French Revolution) are ok if you take your kids there. It's not that strict cos I've been to quite many pre-Covid and didn't face discrimination or turn-downs.
As for the rural areas, even more lenient with kids. Stick to al fresco if you don't want to inconvenience other diners.

Sometimes it's got to do with early table etiquette training and kids' exposure to such F&Bs in Singapore. Or the kid's temperament.

Hmm who knew the Joel Robuchon accepted kids?? Thanks for the pointers... indeed they have a dress code! I wonder what business casual looks like for a toddler... :scratchhead: loved to hear what your DC would never eat, pleb that I am, I never got used to the slimy taste of oysters or escargot. :rotflmao:

Was just googling Family Twist, did you know they do treasure hunt or historical tours for families? I would love to do the French Revolution tour... they even do dress up characters, imagine seeing Marie Antoinette (dressed by actress) in Paris!

Where's your favourite places to stay or time to go? Please dont say the Ritz, haha! Most of my money has gone to milk powder. Would you recommend the arrondissement with the Eiffel views or near shopping Place Vendome etc instead?

LOVE the FRENCH Riviera. We went in our 20s DH and me driving around in a crappy little car and he's told me if we go back there he refuses to drive again every turn was hair raising for him, we will just have to risk our lives in French taxis. Which parts do you like? I am crazy about St Paul de Vence and Antibes but felt oddly out of place in Monaco with the international playboys and billionaires.

To be honest we will prob go back to France only when the toddler is vaccinated.

Or the kid's temperament.

zeit.033699

Reply to Europe Trip on Thu, 26 May 2022 11:35:17 GMT

Toomuchlaundry\" post_id=\"2068788\" time=\"1653563110\" user_id=\"197996:

Lol I scream a lot too, but drowned out by toddler screaming even louder.
