I have a couple of queries, and would appreciate some advice:

1) There no more KLKTN needed, this has been replaced by the KPIS right?
2) are the KPIS & work contract needed for exit from Indonesian side to come to singapore to work, or for maid's return to Indonesia?
3) if maid has KPIS when exiting Indonesia, is 2-way ticket still needed?

If u’re doing yr own direct hire, as I assumed since u alr hv one recommended by yr current helper, pay only following :-

1. MOM online appln with yr SingPass - $35
2. NTUC Income Insurance for FDW - btwn $200-300 (best u choose the plan incl runaway/missing maid). Think my frd recently paid $260.
4. SATA Medical - $67
5. Thumbprint - $35
6. Airfare will depend on country specific. Usually budget airline is enuf as all neighboring countries & pls do not pamper maid buying full flight air ticket as u do not know if she’ll work out & she end up bringing her entire stuff fr hometown. Usually 2-way less than $300. If u hv JetStar handcarry allowance alr 7kg & she can pack more clothings in a backpack but cannot carry ano handbag or pouch.

Total - est $600-700

Even if u pay runner to bring her fr airport, for SATA, thumbprint, etc it’s only $40 per trip & if can do 2 things (e.g. airport str to medical discount to $60 if I rmbr correctly)

Once u click “Replacement“ application of WP for yr new helper, there is really no necessity to call MOM unless delays of more than 2 days. MOM very efficient these days if no issue on maid or yr end

Indo Maid shld know how to apply KTKLN in her hometown. Best she get the KTKLN Card as a legitimate way to come thro SG to work coz she might encounter problems when she returns after her work contract. KTKLN is a form of their govt charging or tracking for their tax obligations.

You can apply new helper 2 weeks before old one leave or even one week before (to give sufficient time to purchase a FDW Insurance fr NTUC Income, pls request softcopy to avoid delays). If u mobilize fr Batam, just ask her to purchase her ticket & u can reimburse her, however if thro airport, you can purchase tic online & send all softcopies of airtic, WP (in-principle Approval), FDW Insurance to her.

When u apply WP thro MOM online, pls rmbr to click “Replacement” maid so that yr existing maid can cross with yr maid’s arrival. I retained my previous helper for 1 mth & extended ano one mth. Do not forgot bcoz if u just click on apply for new FDW, your approval will not be same day & might delay for more than 2 weeks or longer. Sharing fr experience coz we had always had same day appln & Approval for WP but once we waited too long for our new replacement & called MOM. They then approved same day of our call after we explained we’re having one-in one-our basis.

You just wirk backwards fr the time yr current helper needs to go & add a buffer in case of delays.

Every Indonesian helper needs KTKLN Card owise they’ll face a lot of questioning or deny exit at the airport.

I had to scramble to get a letter done. She sent a sample given by the immigration and I had to quickly do up and WhatsApp to her.

Thank God they finally let her through.

She barely made it for departure.

I really don’t understand what’s going on over there, stopping their own people from leaving the country for vacation. Makes me appreciate being a Singaporean much more.

Thankfully I kept checking in on her to make sure she was ok. If I wasn’t around to do the letter quickly she would have missed the plane AGAIN.

Anyway just for reference I attach the letter sample for those who may need it in time to come.

Good for you & family! You managed an awesome hurdle! I know how stressful it can get. I had similar experiences with a recent girl I helped my frd get over fr Mynmar, but they don’t hv similar tax card of KPIS equivalent. It used to be solely corruption. These days, it’s just ignorance of not letting their girls travel out, out of ‘protection’ & most Village girls had never made any passport or travelled out of country.

Most impt is u hv her now. So best get her settled & do yr contract & later KPIS card. You can catch yr breathe abit more now.

But since she already tried exit at jogja. Best to exit via Surabaya.

So I’ve booked tickets for her from Surabaya. She’ll take bus to Surabaya and stay one night.

Now have to send money to her quickly as she forms have much on her for all the unprepared expenses.

Praying hard she’ll be able to come in finally.

Renewing contract with her presence & w/o very different.

Anything within a month will not raise suspicion. Pls note u’ll hv to be prepared to let go of the return ticket as goner. Smaller lost then other solutions which is terribly troublesome.

If you go embassy, you will be looking at least 3 days before things get done.

2-ticket, travel as a tourist (if she is asked, just saying visiting Singapore) is the quickest. Batam will take some time and is quite dangerous. She will have to take bus-boat combination and isn’t a fast journey as well.

No one can tell you what can happen at point of exit at her Indo immigration. Technically, with a 2-way ticket, she’s free to travel, but there might be officers that are probing & if she’s nervous enuf, she might be retained fr leaving.

Just sharing a very recent experience in Yangon. A new Mynmar girl, who had never travelled was booked by her eyer on a 1-way tic, questioned purpose of her trip & denied exit. I advised the eyer to purchase 2-way tic but the girl & her family were nervous that they wld recognize her & deny exit again. I got in touched with my Mynmar contact to advised the family & they put $50 with her as the Immigration wld want to know if she is visiting then she shld hv some funds with her. She cleared Yangon‘s Immigration & had been working almost a month here. Just info for 参考.

Yes she’s currently stuck at Yogyakarta. She went to the labour office this morning there. The office personnel says she’s considered a new maid after leaving Singapore for more than 6 months need to go through an agency, do her medical checkup etc etc before she can exit Indonesia.

I dunno how true this is. So seeking more advise here.

I am considering getting her a 2 way ticket if that is the safest and fastest. Otherwise through the Batam route?

Maybe go to embassy to get her contract done officially first?

What do you guys think?

The 2-way ticket is most expedient considering the urgency of yr need for her when yr current helper goes.

The contract with Indo embassy takes time & she’s not there to sign it anyway. Best get her over on 2-way, easier to settle whether get her contract of KPIS. In anycase, my experience with Info embassy is to hv a valid contract coz s’times the embassy staff can get testy as they were when I was trying to renew my Indo helper’s passport years ago.

Also, leaving her alone in Yogyakarta is not wise unless she have a family member with her. If she stays in Batam, it’s cheap but I know there’re many shady characters there that might expose her to danger. So why leave her there longer than nec?

Get her over first then settle the KPIS & contract.
