Dear Chief Kiasu and all parents

I was wondering why was there no mention of Methodist Girls School since Fairfield is being considered by parents staying around Redhill area including myself. Would anyone care to share any info about this school. It seems that they have performed pretty well.

Do note that a place at phase 2B may not always be guaranteed, especially for Bukit Timah schools.
Hope that you will definitely get in under phase 2B. If not, you will still be vying for a spot in phase 2C.

Then during 2C, on the 3rd day, see whether u will have a good chance to get a guaranteed seat for your distance. If yes, then u need to withdraw in person from the 2B school, and rush over to the 2C school to register.

It’s a risk you have to take. Any x number of other applicants could appear in that time window between your withdrawal and traveling over to the 2C school.

If you end up having to ballot for the 2C seat, at least have a 2C(S) school u like for backup.

If your child gain entry via the distance based calculation, he needs to fulfill the 30 months from the start of the registration phase.

However, he can move within the zone (within 1km, 1to2 or outside 2) and is allowable.

I guess the school would not be able to predict how many GRL applications would come for that year, and hence to maximise the potential applications from PV, they allocate 20 PV slots. Should there be a non-zero number of GRL applications, then that is where balloting comes.

What happens if the family has to shift after the PV application was accepted? Would the PV be voided since the acceptance was based on the initial address? I know that MOE may reconsider the child's school application if the address used for P1 registration differs from the child's current address. But does this apply to PV as well?

Extending this further, would the application (both for PV and P1) be voided if the address changes but still remains within the same zone during application (i.e. still within 1 km). My guess is no, but I maybe wrong.

I don't know why they are doing it when there are only 20 places for 2B.
When Grassroots Leader comes into the picture, i mean ballot, there will be someone going home disappointed. (GRL or PV)

under Phase 2B : that balloting is conducted for citizens, under less than 1 km
if one does not stay within 1 km from Nanyang : no chance to even ballot !

school won't want to waste parents' time, still let them proceed to be PV by clocking more than 80 tedious hours, if they do not stay within 1 km, being fully aware that for so many past years, don't even have any chance to ballot

Hi... I simply follow their application process, sending my resume, did the interview, etc. in the end I received the acceptance letter with 14 days to decide.

Hi,

I've just been accepted to the Nanyang Primary voluntary program (80 hours!), but I'm now having a second thought if Nanyang is really where I want to send my 1st son into.

Basically I want him to go to a good mixed school to allow his baby sister to get in easily when the time comes for her to get to Primary School.

There's no school within 1 km from where I live (Jervois Rd), and as we are Singapore PR, there's no existing relationship with any schools as yet. Nanyang is a bit further, but River Valley Primary is slightly further than 2 km from where we live.

Can anyone shed some light here? I'd welcome any insight, comments, etc.

I believe so. More applicants than vacancy per moe. Word of mouth said 1 more citizen applicant within 1 km than total vacancy hence balloting. Final word on balloting or not will be given by moe.
