Anything in the textbooks that r considered challenging, teachers refuse to teach and even if u do them, they refuse to mark them. Yet all these r tested at the end of the day. The weird thing here is they do not put their best teachers in the best classes. Kids in the best classes r expected to learn more on their own after school. Average n below get the most support. As a result, those in best classes got weak foundations, makes it difficult to transfer to better schools.

School life there is also very boring, no talks or activities or anything especially under the current new principal. U can hardly say the teachers r caring or committed, to the own kids only maybe. They dont teach values. At least once a wk for the entire day, teachers do not teach lessons at all. Students r to do their corrections n entertain themselves after that while the teachers do their markings in the classoom. All can’t wait to go straight home at 1.30pm, the same time as the students. The ridiculous thing is the pe teachers here r not required to teach them warming up n cooling down exercises. They just go straight to their activities.

The reason I chose this school for my kid was due to this forum. It seemed so popular going by the glowing testimonials of a bunch of fervent parent supporters.

Now that my kid is in this school, i regret it seriously n totally.! In hindsight, I should have had my suspicions. It is the only school in this forum that has only positivities and zero negativities. Heck even top schools have some parental complaints and grouches.

In short, this school’s standard is really low low low, especially in english, math n science. They want to n insists on catering to the lowest median meaning learning support students n PRs who r not very good in English. For any students who r of a average decent standard, there is nothing for them beyond the very watered down syllabus. Even recognition in good behaviour is preferentially given to learning support n below average students.

Academic aside, their art, music and pe are also dismal. Their standards just like academic subjects are below Moe’s base syllabuses. Heck the pe teachers are not bothered to go through any warming up or cooling down exercises with them even once in all the years my kid has been here.

It is no wonder that every year all the better students r leaving and being replaced with less academically inclined new ones.

So far my DD and I love this school.

I feel that this school takes bullying very seriously, they have CCTV around the school and there are people who are actually monitor the CCTV. (I heard from my DD that some pals was caught on CCTV for pushing student and their DM is a very fierce kind of teacher.)

My DD was bullied by 2 different pals at different timing and it was solved. She had learnt to have some courage to stand up for herself as well as her friend. Recently, her friend (they are in Primary 1) was bullied by 2 Primary 4 girls. My DD told them off, stand firm without running away despite she was threatened to get beaten up by them and; as well as bringing her friend back and informing their student care teacher-in-charge.

In that school, they are been taught in helping others that are weaker than them. My DD had been teaching Math to her peers recently.

I like the way how my DD had grow during this 5 months.
She has become more helpful, responsible and independent.

Core moral values > PSLE results.

I think that it is more important to let your child enjoy school than letting them stress over studies all the time. I want her to have a happier childhood because when she grow up, she will have a lot of stress.

That's my point of view.

kissiekiss

Reply to Corporation Primary on Sun, 24 May 2015 14:48:47 GMT

Hi, any latest info from Parents regarding this school?

I am stuck between this school & Boon Lay Gardens in case Rulang becomes difficult…
