The upcoming MRT station will be next to King's Mansion. Looks like a 800m walk and need to cross Mountbatten road.
Yeah School bus would be the best option atleast for the first few years especially considering inconveniences like morning rains and busy road junctions.

I would hope we can take the upcoming TEL Line MRT from next to my house to Tanjong Katong station and then a public bus which would be one stop (or just walk) to the school. But not sure 7 year kids can do that?

We have bought our place already,so no more backsies or second guessing. Option is clear now - either this or Geylang primary.
We can plan the PV and transportation based on whichever is convenient now.

Last year balloting was for SC > 2km. Same for 2020.
2019 balloting was for PR < 1km.

Tao Nan is a SAP primary school, offer Chinese as the only Mother tongue.

If both (you & your spouse) are non-Chinese, don't think your son/daughter can take Chinese.

Tao Nan has been balloting for Phase 2B within 1km for the last 5 years! So I'm afraid you would be wasting your time. TKPS has been known to have more foreigners, but it is still a pretty decent school. But it has been balloting for Phase 2C recently for those >2km.

I’m really worried. I joined the Clan just for that and appeared that chances are still low and we couldn’t get a house that is within 1km.

Tao Nan has been balloting for Phase 2B within 1km for the last 5 years! So I'm afraid you would be wasting your time. TKPS has been known to have more foreigners, but it is still a pretty decent school. But it has been balloting for Phase 2C recently for those >2km.

I have looked at all the posts on TKPS. Very useful comments.

We are new citizens in Singapore and are very much looking forward to getting our kids the true blue Singapore education experience. TKPS is within 1-2 Kms of our current residence. I would like to know the following and will be very appreciative of any useful response. My child will only apply for Preschool in 2023 but I need to know whether we should move residence, stay in the same area and / or volunteer here or somewhere else - as we will not be eligible in Phase 1 and 2A.

1. Parent volunteer. Can I start community volunteer in Marine Parade GRC and will that count towards TKPS 2B quota?
2. Can my kid take Chinese as MTL even though we are not chinese and none of other MTL fit either? He is learning chinese in preschool.
3. Is there a lot of academic pressure in this school compared to say, other similarly ranked school?
4. I have heard that schools here tend to separate kids based on their academic ranking pretty early in P1? Is that correct and does it happen in TKPS?
5. Was there balloting in 2B and 2C last year? I have searched the website but just cannot find this information and will be helpful if someone could let me know please!
