It is a good reminder to future parents looking to put their kids in their alma mater - better check the records as early as you can. It happened this year when I was registering for my kid. I was an old student of RVPS and was deciding whether to register for RVPS under 2A or SJIJ under 2B. Both 2A and 2B eligibility didn't appear on the portal, leaving us with only 2C. I called MOE twice, both officers said may happen to some parents, though they couldn't explain why. I remember they specifically said if we were to go for 2A, we'd need to provide report book or PSLE results, and for 2B need some documents from the church to prove that we are eligible for Phase 2B. Honestly, I panicked quite a bit then!

I don't remember there is a need to provide any document for Phase 2A, as both parents' profiles would have been updated on the MOE portal. For my case it was different, I remember logging in and it only showed eligibility for Phase 2C. I called MOE up to ask why 2B and 2A were not there, was told that if Phase 2A and 2B didn't appear, I would have to provide either old report book or PSLE results (2A) and apply manually. If the phase(s) appear, then application process will be smooth. Phase 2A should be sure in for SJIJ.

Pupils in SJI Jr dont get priority for admission into SJI or St Pat’s over De La Salle, St Anthony’s and St Stephen’s. Hence i’m always puzzled how come SJI Jr is the hot favourite while the other 3, you can literally be guaranteed a place and enjoy the same priority.

That would be 2A i suppose. Doesnt solve the 2B mystery of oversubscribed for >2km while the other 3 schools are a shoo-in.

From my perspective, it is all to do with location but not in the same light as Floppy. 3 of the 4 schools were in the city area. 2 of whom had to head west due to reasons not of their choosing. The only remaining one - SJIJ continues to attract Old Boys and its allure remains unchanged due to its location and ties to the history of St Michaels School (its former name).
