Like me, I know of several parents here eager to know how the current P2 kids are allocated to the P3 classes and there have been quite a few theories quoted. I know there’s quite a critical mass of P2 parents here so why not make the allocation an open secret. I am proposing the following hypothesis and would require your help to participate in this small survey to support the hypothesis, so here it goes:

Hypothesis 1: top 2 classes are split evenly by odd (3 Sincere) and even positions (3 Achieving)
Hypothesis 2: next 4 classes are split by best subject scored

      Hypo 1:
      Standard Ranking - 1 to 80
      Odd position in standard
      Imp75 - 3 Sincere

      Even position in standard
      xx

      Hypo 2
      Standard Ranking - 81 to 240
eg xx - Maths best scored - 3 United

The hypothesis could only work if we have the parents support to prove the hypo wrong so pls contribute if you are comfortable to do so thanks

          Not really true.

The top girl in my child’s class goes to 3Achieving and her position in standard is odd number.

My child’s best subject is Maths and is going to 3 Gracious. The other girl in class has highest in Chinese is going to 3 Gracious too. So I don’t think it is divided according to best subject scored.

I wonder whether they are split based on their PE T-Shirt color?

How abt changing hypo 1 a little bit:

                Hypo1:
                Standard rank 1-10,21-30,41-50,61-70
                Imp75-3 Sincere

                Standard rank 11-20,31-40,51-60,71-80
                xx-3 Achieving

I will think of some other hypo for 81-240

                    Tracy

Thanks for being so forthcoming and proving hypo 1 wrong, congrats to your son having done well too.
I think maybe it’s really random assignment, can’t think if any other systematic way how the school allocate the top 2 classes

I know parents of the other 4 classes are eager to rightly guess their class assignments so any hypos you suggest are welcome to help these Parents

I have been following this forum for the past 2 years ever since my girl started in Chongfu School. Like most parents, I would like to know how Chongfu School ranks its students.

My girl’s whole cohort ranking is between 90 to 100, and she is posted to 3 Gracious. She scored well for her Maths. So my guess is that the school ranks all students in accordance to their ranking. 1st 40 to Sincere, next 40 to Achieving, next 40 or less to Gracious, next 40 to another class and so on.
Hope this is helpful to determine how the school ranks students.

not really in accordance to their ranking.like my son rank is between 20-30,he is going to 3 Achieving,my friend’s son rank is between 60-70,he is going to 3 Sincere.

my guess is in accordance to their(first 80 students) PE T shirt color for top two classes.

for example, first 40 students majority are from PE Red color, school should not assign them to be one class, right?
