Reviving this thread to ask about the Foundation levels for young kids, seems like a lot of new changes are being made.

My son took Foundation 1 and 2 together last year and was charged $60 by the school. This year my daughter is to take Foundation 1 and 2, but the charge is $120 for both grades, $60 x 2. The school insisted that it was mandated by STF but I only saw that STF left it to the school to administer the grading for Foundation 1 and 2. I called JH Kim and they said that if you take Foundation 1 & 2 under them it would be $60 for both.

I’m now in a mind to withdraw my daughter from the school, maybe the registration and uniform fee may be more expensive in the long run but I don’t like being taken for a ride monetarily. This doesn’t bode well for the future when I cannot trust the school.

Wanted to check if the school is correct that Foundation 1 & 2 have to be charged separately? Also what is the experience for other parents in other schools. Thanks

My son stopped tkd after getting his first poom in p5. Now at 16yo he regrets stopping as he has lost his ability to do full split. I do think the break is good to explore other stuff which he did for the past 3 yrs n now seems keen to go back to tkd. He intends to take as cca next yr. (he is having the same reservations now when I asked him if he wanna stop piano lessons... He doesn't want to have similar regrets).

My hb stopped at p6/sec1 n never looked back. Lol though he still did put his \"skills\" to gd use in inspiring ds2 when ds2 was younger. Lol. So no training is wasted!

I've come to realise there are various chapter tests after the 1st Poom belt and then of course the tests for the 2nd and 3rd Poom. Was also wondering if it'd be time to stop and explore other interests, but then it's also a pity to let the training go to waste. Any advice from veteran TKD parents whose kids' interest is at times waning and at times stronger?

My son has been practising Taekwondo for about 2 years now, and is currently red belt. How does it go after that, he'll attain his junior Black, and then what? Does he go on training at that level? I guess it's also practical to take a pause and see if he wants to explore other sports interests as he progress up to upper primary.

It is really tough to wear everything while training. It is really hot when you are in open air court. But it does serve as a training.

Training just restart, but the number of convid climb again. We might need to stop training again soon.

Can I check what are the things we need to purchase for classes held in CC? Uniform, guard, shoes? Can I know the estimated cost?

At which stage does kids start to spar? Thank you.

The coach will advise when you enroll for classes, typically its uniform.
Some CC classes will require shoes, depends on the ground they practice on.
Guards are only if they are contact sparring which should not start until maybe couple belts later.
Uniform from $60- 100 plus depending on brand, some places ( not CC) offer free uniform when registering for classes for x number of classes

Oh wow, I am paying for my 2 girls at $45 each for 3 months term at 90 min per lesson (typically 2hrs to 3hr) weekly.

Of cos, no air con and no floor mat. It's open air HDB badminton court.

The training classes held inside CC, do they still limit to maximum 10 students, per class ?
