Get Gungho's child-centered coaching approach requires a commitment on behalf of the coach to embrace a natural starting point in development for each player. The coach's role is not to create parity (all players are the same), but to nurture them to a level consistent with their individual commitment, attitude, enthusiasm, and talent. To ensure participation in football is enjoyable for players, adults, parents, and coaches need to embrace and work with the development characteristics, and not against them.


Description of Football Programs
Goal-based training plan based on age-appropriate activities that involve the following activities among others;

  • General Ball Control and Motor Coordination Skills
    Dribbling and Possession
    Receiving and Striking the Ball
    Passing the Ball
    Cutting and Turning
    Competitions (1v1, 2v2, etc..)
    Teamwork
    Scrimmage Games

    Progress Markers
    At the end of each term, players will receive a progress report that is based on the expertise of our coaches and will be based on the following metrics among others.

This was after we had already moved my child's other enrichment classes. :scared: 😒 As my son was still so enthusiastic about it, I let him try for another semester, and we tried to accommodate their timing. During this time his team participated and won a tournament. Low and behold, there wasn't enough medals and only my son went home without one. He was shattered because he was recognised as the best player but he had to hide behind the banner because he didn't have a medal. The following days after was purely a mental torture for me to sort out the missing medal as the coach was basically telling me that he can't handle anything outside the field = you go figure your problem by yourself. Coach was also quite dishonest in many other things - which is another story that is too long to tell. Basically at the end of the day, when there was a reward, the coach came out and claimed glory, but behind all that glory, they just conveniently ignored their basic responsibility that is to become an honest educator. If I had to do it all over, I would absolutely have not put my son through this again. :slapshead:
    Devastating.. thank you for sharing your story. This definitely is a lesson learned. I am just hoping they won't continue doing so as this can affect the child so badly.
