Their content consists of street interviews of random people in Japan. A great and free way to immerse yourself in the culture and language without travelling there!

I have subscript to the channel \"NHK world premium\" in StarHub TV, there are news and TV Drama Series broadcast everyday. You may consider to subscript this channel if you think it helps to expose your kid to Japanese language.

Yah I googled that there are Japanese kindergartens in Singapore offering English and Japanese. But my kid is not a Japanese 🙈 I will look into duolingo app! Thank you for the suggestion
Oh, they don’t have to be Japanese Kindergaten. There are regular kindergartens that have small classes for Japanese kids. And they also provide Japanese as an enrichment.

Do allow your kid to use the app with adult supervision and limit the amount of time base on his age. And yes, Xiao ding dang is useful for kids learning Japanese as well.

The question is not whether your kid is Japanese. The question is more of - do you or your spouse speak Japanese? If yes, just converse with him naturally in that language all the time and he will get it eventually. If not, there's no point in pushing Japanese unless he gets really interested in some comics like Doraemon.

At first, I was just letting my girl try out since its very affordable. Good teacher too. Now she enjoys going to the classes a lot. Though I will probably need to find another class with higher grades in time since the centre does not have advanced classes yet.

Hi CarolW,

It doesnt work that way. I have enrolled into other language school. Based on my experience, the school will not conduct any assessment to access which level. You may want to register your kid from the begainner. When your kid reach a certain level the sensei will ask if any of the students is interested in taking part in JLPT exam or you can check with the school or the sensei.

You can go to udemy.com to watch the lesson online (JLPT5) not sure if you are able to use skillfuture credit. Back then when i signed up there was no skillfuture credit. All courses are in USD.

I saw a lot of colleagues whom sent their kids to lanaguage courses and the end result is he kids forgot all and mostly of what had been taught ...due to no practice ....the mind needs the practice to cement the art of the language

Perhaps you can consider enrolling together with your child for the lessons, can be good bonding sessions with your child as well.

As long as I am not the only one feeling very uncomfortable with people using this JP word even though they have no intention to offend, at least you should stop using right away instead excusing/convincing. Or else, you or your child maybe in big trouble because of using this word(Some my fellow Japanese might sue you). So my post is very gentle reminder to you to avoid future trouble since I really appreciate you are interested in Japanese.


By the way, my jaw had been really nearly dropped when I heard people used the word "Nigr" here in Singapore without offensive intention, they never aware of they are using such a extremely offensive word. They are so lucky to be here, if not, they would be shot dead instantly…
