<![CDATA[Actor Huang Wenyong has passed away]]>SINGAPORE: Veteran MediaCorp artiste Huang Wenyong, best known for his role as “Ah Shui” in Channel 8’s period drama “The Awakening” died on Saturday.


He was 60.

The proceeds from calls made to vote for late Singapore actor Huang Wenyong, who is in the running for the Top 10 Most Popular Male Artistes award at the Star Awards this year, will be donated to HCA Hospice Care, a charity chosen by his family.

This is the first time this has happened in the history of the Star Awards, which recognises the top talents in local Mandarin television.

In addition, the proceeds from an upcoming limited edition commemorative DVD box set, which collects Huang's most iconic performances in \"The Awakening – Season 1\", \"It’s A Wonderful Life\" and 10 episodes of \"Don’t Worry, Be Happy\", will also be donated to HCA Hospice Care.

Only 1,000 sets will be released, with pricing and distribution channels to be announced in the near future.....

In fact, I liked his husband/ wife roles with Chen Liping as both of them are like natural and their chemistry is there. To me, that left a deeper impression as compared to Xiang Yun.


Looking at his funeral pictures (with so many crying for him) really brought tears to my eyes. It just goes to show the kind of person he is.

Although they don’t usually call him "ah ge" but he is indeed a true ah ge with the hearts that he has touched.

My family 3 generations all love to watch his shows. My mum (older than him) is extremely sad to hear this news.

Agree with Vinegar that lifestyle nowadays are just too stressful, easily contact illness/ diseases. Yes best not to give our young kids too much stress in everything that they do. Maybe can indirectly lengthened our own lifespan too.

Really felt so sad after hearing about his demise on the Channel 5 news. His death was too sudden... Will very much missed seeing him on TV!

His passing had to be so near to Star Awards. Hearing his demise reminded me of Leslie Cheung...it was so sudden and unexpected.
