I see quite alot nowadays, agents are recommending them instead of Indons.

One thing to take note if ur gonna employ a burmese, their passport last for 3 years. So if ur taking a transfered maid do check out
the expiry date on the p.p. The agent may not bring ur attention to it and even if they do, u will probably b advised to hold back their dollars as the maid will have to pay for the renewal and thats really not gonna b cheap.

Passport (copies/pics of front page)
2. Education Cert (to reflect at least up to 8 years of education (pls sight cert & be aware they can doctor it as some Mynmar agents are unscrupulous charging them to cheat Spore). Tell them they hv to bring originals to SG
3. Ensure they are at least 23 years old (again their age can be doctored just like those Indonesian maids)

4. Get ready yr SingPass
5. Go to MOM website under Foreign Domestic Worker, start completing form
6. If u apply morning by afternn u’ll get Approval In-Principle (provided both parties do not hv bad records). If u’re apply to replace a furrentbheller, go to “Replacement” and not apply new maid owise u’ll never get approval

7. Once AIP received, u can purchase NTUC Income’s FDW Insurance (safer to chose with runaway package). Best to call rather than online coz u can ask them email softcopy urgently, owise may wait for weeks by post.

8. Call the girl to mobilize on certain date. I usually check JetStar for budget tickets & choose flights timing to my family's convenience & cost. Purchase & selectvif u wanna buy her baggage. I normally don’t encourage the girls to bring too much coz one girl brot all her mountain village winter wear

9. Then send her all doc - AIP/WP, Airtic as well as front page of Insurance (she needs this doc that’s why I highlighted get softcopy fast so u can use softcopy yo send her). W/o Insurance, even if I buy airtic, she arrives & will be turned back on next flight

10. Send her to SATA for medical. You can use runner to bring her if I’ve no time. If go early morning, complete within an hour. Wait for medical repot following week

11. With medical repot, bring her to MOM @ Bedeemer (you can use runner cost btwn $40-60) for thumbprint. Whole process complete. MOM will deliver her WP to yr home.

No agency cost at all. Hope abv helps.

Hi, which direct supplier can we look for if we need the bios for the Myanmar maid ?

tigertime

Reply to Myanmar maids on Thu, 16 Jan 2020 09:13:22 GMT

Can anyone advise what is the standard amount for placement fee and loan for a Fresh Myanmar maid ? how many months for placement + loan

For washing, DH particular coz of office wear so need to wash by-hand. Taught her how to use washer & I don’t encourage dryer but sun my clothes. So she hv to wash & turn our clothes ard during rinsing process before sunning clothes inside out. I explain why & wherefores so try to help them u’stand the action help to retain colors, or hygiene & how bacteria form, etc. I showed them food thawing method & to wash/marinate & put immediately into fridge before cooking to prevent bacteria growth on meats.

Over time, my 1st Mynmar girl became a great cook after I taught them Chinese cooking, Italian pasta & pizza fr scratch, sushi making, Vietnamese cooking & also baking (actually 2nd coz the 1st was way back in the late 90s and it was really hard bcoz of language barriers.

Hence, my advice to look specifically for Chin State girls as those hv r’qmt to study Burmese & English as part of their edn. But, rmbr they may score well on paper, but their country’s environment lacking in any extensive spoken English. They may mostly be slow, but will catch on.

I learnt to detail in List fr many years back, after reading Tamarind’s own blog. Each of my girls were sent to Community Centres to learn haircutting, flower arrangements (from my arrangements) and one tried her O levels here (but decided after failing once) returned to Mynmar yo complete her uni. Subsequently, I let my girls come in a mth earlier to shadow existing helper which then made my job easier coz I had to handle my kids & my elderlies. They shadow the basic duties & culinary skills fr my daily coaching. Come to think of it, all my Mynmar girls can cook well after 6 mths with my personal attention. By themselves, they’ll never know how to clean or cook our kinda food.

I never let them take advantage of any situation & wld calmly & firmly tell them they’re expected (day one list of duties, schedule to follow etc given to helper) . So 1st week/1st mth, if b’fast not on time, cannot wake up, I’ll sit & firmly repeat my expectations. They follow me to wet mkt & supermkts to get familiar. Once they’re up to mark with housework, I let them try going to mkt or supermkts on their own. This is quite individual depending on their pickup rate. My current is a very careful girl (overly so, guess she wanted to learn everything well) till abt 9 mths then she started doing marketing on her own. I didn’t let her go off-day but compensated coz she needs to focus. On 6th mth, brot her to Peninsula & her Mynmar type of church. 2nd Sunday she managed to return at MRT meeting point but lost btwn bus-stops. So we continue to refresh her direction home & she doesn’t need attention anymore.

All my helpers eat at the same table with us. We nvr put them separate or eat at a corner fr our family. Basic respect & reasonable treatment. I don’t pamper or give extras - no WiFi, first time pay for their phone card & they pay me back after receiving 1st salary. Since early 2000, all my maids are expected to open a POSB acct for transfer of salary to her acct promptly & records are clear & abv board with no late payment. Only once DH forgot to renew his GIRO bcoz maid extended ano 2 years & I tried Fund Transfer whilst holidaying in Japan.
