<![CDATA[Do you send kids for tuition on weekday or weekend??]]>I’m currently looking for a tuition centre for my ds who will be in P2 AM session next yr, as i have check with a few centre, most of the weekends are taken up… I am wondering if its better to send them for tuition during weekdays afternoon?? Any pro and cons to share?? TIA

No, dnt get me wrong... Im not competing with them as some of the girls are already very bright and r attending extra classes just to score much higher.

I added 3 extra classes for her after receiving her results for SA1....Below average! (band 1 2 and 3) used to be band 1 all the way...Oh yes, I do know n expect her marks to drop in p3 but not below the level average. I felt that that was a wake up call for me. My daughter s not one that read much or even study when shes back frm school neither does she like doing her homework.. she would rather laze around doing nothing till evening// actually on Tuesday n Friday she joins a small group at a nearby tutorial cte whereby she spends 1 1/2 hrs doing school or enrichment homewk and the other 1 1/2 hrs doing whatever assessment papers that the tutor gives till 3 hrs is up.....
Since daughter does not do anything at home and I cant keep chasing her to study, the only solution is to sign her into these enrichment ctes to help her out. ...may be a bit costly but its worth it cos she really did improve a lot this term. 😄

My dh wil kill me if i plan my ds schedule this way. Does your ds enjoy the classes? you muz be quite kancheong over his sch work. I also think it's unnecessary to have tuition for every subject but of course its up to individual choice. Some parents wil feel lose out if their kids are not taking up some form of enrichment.

I feel the same way too!! for myself, i only make sure my son gets tuition for his weak subj, that is English. I was so surprise with your schedule!! too pack to me... I can imagine how draggy will i be if my mum were to send me for so many activities when i was young. But i guess, children now and last time really very different.

Last time all no need tuition still can \"survive\" till O level, now hor, under the stress of everyone, no tuition seems so impossible!! 😢

Goodness, too tiring, isn't it? Not just that, the time, the money ... my kids will be protesting with such a schedule. Does your child really require tuition for all subjects?

My sentiments exactly!! My P3 dd only has Chinese creative writing and violin. But she has swimming training 3 times a week. Do they really need to have tuition for every subject? I feel even one tuition every weekday is too much.

My P5 going on to P6 ds will be having 3 enrichment classes on weekdays and 2 on Saturdays.

I think Saturday is too packed. By the time reach Chinese Compo & Music lesson, the brain is too tired to absorb. The physical body is just there for the sake of being there.

On school days it's good to limit to 1 enrichment per day. On non-school days, I limit to 2 enrichments, with minimum of 2-3 hour spacing in between.

Stretching them is good, but too much can kill a child.

I prefer weekdays for tuition/enrichment. Weekends are rest days for me - no cooking, no housework, just nada. I feel that it should be the same for dd. Need time to rest and recuperate. However it is not always possible. Hence, she has music followed by Chinese Enrichment (close proximity) on Sat mornings and Chinese tuition on Mon late-noon.

normally students taking major exams such as PSLE and O levels prefer weekend classes due to supplementay and remedial classes after school. Weekdays seem to be preferred for non-major exam students.

Depends on individual kids. I have students who are tired from school & can't focus during tuition. For these children, tuition during weekends will be better (they chose Sunday/Saturday morning so that they can enjoy family time after tuition which ends at 9.30am).

However, not all families are able to do that due to logistics issue (no one to send the kids over to the tuition centre). Even for me, I have to send my boy for classes on weekday evenings (after office hours) due to logistics issue too. Unless the class is near my parents’ place & my maid can bring him over easily, I can’t send him for the afternoon classes.


As such, some families have no choice but to send their kids for tuition on weekends.

Another scenario is that the tutor the parents want only has weekend slots available, therefore they have no other choice unless they find another tutor. This scenario is quite common if the tutor has many years of experience & is well recommended by others.

1. it creats every day study time(weekdays are for studies weekends are for games.).
2. rather than running around with them for tution you can spend some quality time with them. a family time, outing. shoping with them. go to park....
3. you can take extra cc programs. like swimming, music, sports etc
