I wished we had read about this post before we joined the queue for NAFA Junior arts. I think many of you are too kind. We have been there for one semester and pulled our daughter out because the teacher is horrible, the administration practice is primitive and there is no liaison between teachers and parents. For all the queueing and massively journey to get there weekly, I don’t know that my daughter gets very much out of it. Every child comes out carrying the same picture. There isn’t much interpretation. My daughter said she wanted to draw a dinosaur but was told, can only draw cat or dog. The teacher’s face is always black, and the kids are terrified of her. She gets angry if the kids are late, even though it’s probably their parent’s fault, they are only 5yo. The ratio of staff to kids 18:1 (plus one Teaching assistant, that keeps changing). My advice is: if you are thinking of queueing at NAFA and your child loves art, bring them elsewhere where the teacher is invested in making them love it more, not here.

Greatly appreciate it if anyone can share about Children Art for aged 8-10 years old art class in NAFA. What is the class size? Is it really worth going for it? Will they teach on how to use; line, tone, color, shape, texture tc.Knowledge and demonstrated use of color mixing, paint application techniques, perspective. Will they get any Art Portfolio. Lastly, do the kids really benefit from going to this because i really dun not want to wast the long trip for a general mass art class. Thank you.

Today (06-Dec-2014) is registration (9am to 1pm) for NAFA Kinder Art K1 and K2 2015.

Queued at 6am outside building. Queue move indoors after security guard open door at around 7am.

Got queue number 0063 after registration starts at 9am sharp. I was not able to get the K1 2nd morning slot. Have to make do with a later slot.

Seems like only 1 K1 class of 16 students for each slot. NAFA give priority to younger siblings of existing students too.

So do go and queue really early for future registration, if you want that particular slot.

I’m having second thoughts as the ratio is abit scary. 1:16 or 18 depending on the size of the classrooms. Thou an assistant teacher will be present as well. Not sure if 1:8 is a good enough ratio. But the fees are very reasonable.
