<![CDATA[DSA 2015]]>May I seek your advice regarding whether to apply DSA IP and O Level in same school…

We are looking at Victoria Sch (parents with experience in other dual track schools kindly advise)
If DS is applying through sports, is it advisable to tick both IP and O Level track in the form? Will DS be placed on O level track if he chooses both options? How do they evaluate and offer? Based on past school results?
(This is assuming the sports we apply, he has no problem)

DS is in P6 this year... he is also eyeing RI. But the COP seems so high. Did you manage to be successful in your appeal? When you appeal, do you have to show strengths in other areas?

RI has only one Open House a year (in May). Regardless if your boy is applying DSA, you can bring him to RI OH to have a 'feel' of the school. Most kids tend to get serious about studies, after visiting their dream schools' OHs. Your boy may give you a pleasant surprise. Good Luck !

To me, both RI and CHS are good schools. My only worry is that the construction of the new JC that CHS year 5&6 goes to may be postponed again. And the holding school is at Mt Sinai Rd. If DS gets into RI, then he can walk to school for the next 6 years, as we stay in the vicinity.

Yes, Pirated is right, insecurity is a factor. Fear & anxiety are difficult for us parents to manage, more difficult than poor results 😞

I was trying to tell my DS that being the lowest T-score doesn't mean the child will struggle throughout sec sch.


I have heard many stories of those borderline cases who worked hard, and subsequently even did better in sec sch than those whose t-scores were much higher.

My DS still has his reservations, & prefers to be a big fish in a small pond.
Feeling insecure is likely the reason.

Fact is, whatever is the secondary school, every one in the posted school - all starts from the same starting line. PSLE score is already history and no one asks about it after first week in sec one.
