Because

1) not easy to do English Literature, unless

a) your command of English is powerful, coupled with

b) your analysis skills of the scenario or characters of the whatever A-level Literature textbook(s) u are using, are deep & great. Can study, but not easy to score, in H2 Literature.

But if u desire to be a lawyer, then taking H2 Literature, is good.

2) H2 (History and Geography) are VERY heavy content subjects.

a) Already, your Science stream H2 (PCM + BCM) subjects are heavy enough ! Enough is enough. Nobody want to be extra burdened yet, by another further more heavy content subject (Geog or History) anymore.

b) also, already been taught before and exposed to Upper Secondary 3 and 4 (History + Geog). As such, very \"sian\" to still want to see both these subjects, at A-level. Prefer to study something else, brand new, more exciting.


3) Economics :
never done before at O-level, unless you hailed from TKGS (Tanjong Katong Girls school), which offered subject O-level Economics up to this last year, 2023.

So, is a refreshing new subject, to study. Later on, if u want to become investment banker or enter Finance related field career, at least Econs offer some connection, to the commercial business world. Hence, study H2 Economics is still useful.


4) of course, other new subjects like \"Theatre Drama\" or \"Translation in Chinese\" ... are also very interesting.

However, these subjects are limited, confined to only certain JCs' teaching resources' availability.
Not all Junior Colleges offer these two subjects.


5) Computing, is also another good, useful subject to take. However, if you are already a Science stream taking (PCM or BCM) combination, then of course cannot, not allowed to take Computing anymore.

6) for those who have already sat for O-level (3rd foreign language : German / Spanish / French / Japanese), will be great if you can continue with H2 3rd foreign language subject.

However,
many students have already dropped out of MOELC, way before even reaching Sec 4 level, because they can't \"tahan\". So, they withdraw from MOELC.

Because to “science-y people”, Econs is the most concrete and data-based (and therefore least waffly/wishy-washy/subjective/opinion-heavy) humanities subject. Some of us just prefer black and white rather than to have to think about/argue grey areas.

Least common regular humanities chosen by Science P/BCM folks is probably literature. I think.

Which 3rd language ?

If is conducted inside in-house school premises like Malay, perhaps can approach your own Secondary school language Teacher in charge.

But,
if is a foreign language taught or held at Bishan or Newton MOELC for Spanish, German, French, Japanese, MOELC is strict, won't allow, since you have already missed one whole year of foundation, in Sec 1.
Unless ...

under unusual, exceptional circumstances like

Example

let's say you are born of a French father. At home, u are very fluent in speaking French, since from birth as a baby, your Daddy already speaking to you in French.
Then,
perhaps u can write in to MOELC, to appeal. But of course, MOELC will ask u for reasons why u didn't start learning French in Sec 1,
assuming that
your past PSLE score did indeed qualify you to learn French

OR

Unless
you can prove to MOELC
that
u already have acquired a somewhat proficiency level, in that foreign language. If is like this, u may appeal
